Hello, I hope that everyone is having a nice evening. I have a question concerning the nurse entrance exam. I have to take this test in order to be considered for the nursing program at the school I am interested in attending. Has anyone taken this particular exam yet? If so what does the test consist of, and do you know of any study guides I could use to help prepare me for it. Especially, I need to study whatever math concepts are covered on it. Thank you for all of your help.

Sonia:)

Sonia,

Are you talking about the NET Entrance test? The reason I ask is that there is also another entrance test by the NLN. I took the NET as part of the admission process at my school. There is a study guide but I don't know where you can get one. Try calling the school to see if they can tell you where to buy one. The test was not that hard and I had been out of school for quite awhile. Some of the questions are commonsense. There is a reading comprehension portion, a study skills portion(like do you prefer to study alone or with a group, etc.) and, of course, a math portion. For the math, know your fractions well! That means multiplying, dividing, subtracting and adding fractions and also how to do percentages. Some algebra was on it but very basic. Good luck!!

Hrm, I took the pre-nursing exam by the Psychological Corp....it consisted of questions in 5 areas (math, biology, chemistry, reading and grammar, of all things). I'm not sure it was something I could have studied for; most of it seemed like common sense stuff and things I learned in high school and other courses. There was algebra on it, I do remember that, and I had to rack my brains to remember how to do that stuff (I'd been out of high school for quite a few years when I took the test).

Like Carleigh said, try calling your school and asking if there is a study guide available. :)

I believe she is talking about the pre admission exam exam by the National League of Nursing at http://www.NLN.org.......it is the exam I have to take in 2 weeks at my school....I have to score 100 or better to even be considered for the Nursing program.

I had to take the NLN test for admission to my school's program. I didn't think it was too hard - just like most of those standardized tests. Basic math, english, science, etc. I did a bit of study/review in the sciences using an old Nursing School Entrance Exam study book by Arco. Our school bookstore sold an NLN study guide for it and I think you can even order old tests to study from the NLN website. Good luck!

Sonia,

Just remember to check with your school. The NLN entrance exam and the NET entrance exam are two different tests. Some schools use one, some the other. I have heard that the NLN test is harder.
