psychology minor

I will be finishing up my first year of college/being a nursing student! My plan is to eventually become a psychiatric nurse practitioner. At the moment I minor in psychology, it's an extra class that I must take each semester. One of my questions is minoring worth it? Will it really play a role with getting to graduate school and on my application? This summer I will be volunteering as at a hospital to gain experience in that type of environment. Does anyone have any advice to help me reach my goal? Anything else I could be doing?
