Pre-requisite Order

Nursing Students General Students

Like almost everyone else, I have to take Anatomy, Physiology, Micro before I can apply to nursing school. I took them all before -- 35 years ago! LOL So I need to take them again.

1. What order should I take them in?

2. Chem isn't required, but I think I need to take Chem also as a refresher course (I can't imagine that I wouldn't need to for Micro), but should I take it before Micro or before Physiology?

3. Since it's been so long since I've taken any of these courses, should I take just general Biology before I take anything else?

I'm teaching myself medical terminology over the summer with a book and CD, just to give myself a headstart.

Anything else I should know?

Thanks!

Since you already have such good advice already I just want to say ..

Good Luck ! You can do it:)

I've never taken chemistry & never found it necessary in micro or A&P. I got A's with no problem.

I had to take chem to get into A&P at my school. Just finishing it up now. *phew*!

We've got 3 A&P classes we have to take. Microbiology can be taken after you take the first A&P class. Some folks take A&P 1 first quarter, A&P 2 & micro second quarter, and then A&P 3 & general pharm third quarter. I'm spreading it out though...I figure I'll get better grades that way. :)

I talked with the head counselor this evening. She wants me to take Anatomy, Chem, Physiology, Micro, in that order. Too bad Anatomy and Physiology aren't offered as a combined two-semester course, but can't have everything, I guess.

Again, thanks to everyone who replied!

At first my school didn't care in which order you took the pre-req. But then alot of people started failing physiology really bad because they hadn't took anatomy first. So now it's either you take them together or you take anatomy first. They really don't care when you take chem or micro...
