Pinning ceremonies! Graduations! Oh my!

After two long but quick years, my classmates and I are getting ready to graduate from nursing school and will be registered nurses! :yeah:So, of course, we have our pinning and graduation coming up.

Our pinning is first. We are required to wear white, either all white scrubs or a white nurse dress. Everything must be new so that it won't be dingy or yellowed. Many of us girls are wearing dresses but some others are choosing to wear white scrubs because they think the dress is "stupid". It's tradition, people! Anyway, we also voted as a class to wear caps. Another "stupid" aspect, according to some. Too bad, so sad. We're wearing the cap.

I am looking forward to wearing a traditional white nurse's dress and traditional cap. I would have been super ticked if we weren't going to be wearing them.

We have some LPN-RN bridge students who are participating in our pinning, which I don't like since they are a separate program from us. Anyway, they are opting to wear their clinical uniforms. Bizarre, I know. I put that thing on for the last time last week and I never want to see it again.

We also have a school pin we can buy. They ranged from $30 to $200. I bought one on Amazon for around $7 and a few other people also opted not to buy the school pin.

I don't really know what else we're going to be doing in the ceremony with the exception of a PowerPoint show that will have our messages to our families in addition to pics of our families. There are also pics of us that were taken throughout the nursing school experience.

Graduation is 2 days later. We will walk with the entire school and we'll wear black gowns and mortarboards.

So, what are you guys doing in your pinning ceremony and what are you wearing?

Graduation?

We have pinning first and then graduation as well. We are wearing our caps and gowns to both, which I think is stupid. I have never seen people wear something other than white scrubs/dresses to pinning, so I'm kind of disappointed. Oh well. We also had the option to purchase a pin between 30-200ish. We could also get a guard that says BSN which is kind of neat.

Our pinning is first and then graduation is the next day. Both are nighttime ceremonies. For our pinning, we get to wear whatever we want as long as it's "dressy casual". I'm thankful that we don't need to wear any white scrubs/dresses or white hats or anything like that - I like that our ceremony is more of a professional ceremony. I'll be wearing a blue dress and sweater. Our pins were 'donated' to us by our school's 'student services/booster' group, so we didn't need to pay for it. The pinning will have an awards ceremony portion before the actual pinning.

Commencement services are the next day and we have black cap and gowns. I'll be wearing a fuchsia strapless dress under my gown.

I still have 3 quarters left, but I just want to say CONGRATULATIONS!!! Your hard work has paid off!!
