Are you looking to purchase premade cards or will you be required to make your own as part of the course work? At our school we have a drug book, and you have to make your own cards.

Yes I want to purchase some to study by, but we also will have to make them up for our clinicals. I am just trying to find the best way to study them since I heard that pharm is really really hard..any suggestions?

I teach pharmacology - I don't have the students buy cards that are premade, just a basic drug manual plus their pharm book. I usually suggest that students learn drugs by classifications; but there are 100 different ways to learn them. My number one suggestion to you is to start learning them from day one - not the day before the exam. If I can ever be of assistance to you let me know, I would be glad to help. :wink2:

I have this book called "Medical Terminology in a Flash," (required for Pharm) and it can with colorful, cool, perforated flash cards with a hole punched in them that you just need to get a round book clip to use them. or I guess you could do without the clip too. But anyway, they look awesome, and I can't wait to use them!

Mosby's Pharmacology Notecards: Visual, Mnemonic, and Memory Aids for Nurses by Joan Zerwekh is a great tool. They are not in depth though and you will still have to write out pharm cards, but I imagine your school will make you do that anyhow. This book breaks them down into their classes and gives info such as side effects and uses as a class. I loved this book because it helped me learn them as a class which is way easier to learn that way. It has cartoons and memory tools in this book to help you remember them. I highly recommend this as it helped me a great deal and will make your studying so much easier. Good luck!

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions...I am nervous and excited to be starting on Monday...Yikes!!! But with all the help from this forum I know I will be alright...Thanks again

Hello,

I also used the Mosby's Pharm NoteCards. They are in a 4x6 form and have a binder around them. You can put them in your scrub pocket if you want. I also agree that you will have to make your own 3x5 pharm cards to remember things your instructor wants you to know.

Also, hey take advantage of that pharm instructor above.
