Miscommunication happens more often than we like - especially while in school. Sometimes communication between teacher and students get lost. The teacher or the student ends up saying something unexpected which in turn makes everyone laugh. What have you heard or witnessed in school that was funny? Was there ever a time that something was said in class that you couldn't believe that it came out of someone's mouth?

Cradle "crap"

Well, the probiotics question isn't THAT stupid. Women have been douching with plain yogurt since long before my great grandmammy, then they discovered the gel caps of it work well as a suppository and now they actually make gynecological probiotic suppositories. The idea of douching plain yogurt though...not sure I could ever get behind it,

I've done it before. Desperate times = desperate measures! It was...cold. Really cold. And it didn't really help as I had BV and not yeast lol. But I was young(er) at the time.

Well, there's always the flavored yogurts too. I hear strawberry and chocolate are popular. Maybe tzatziki sauce would work in a pinch?

Talking about thrush and lady partsl yeast infections are both caused by Canidida albicans. Student asks "So if its caused by the same organism, can you treat thrush with those lady partsl tablets?" The entire class wanted to "face-palm" themselves (these types of questions are typical from from this girl) and the professor had no idea to respond.

I guess that I have been sheltered here in Florida because I have never heard of a person using yogurt lady partslly. Kinda gross!!

Ugh... Maybe I'm just a crotchety old man, but if I had any authority over that class I would have ejected her from the program. It's one thing to get that far and be so misinformed, but it's another to be so self-assured that she won't be corrected on things.

People like that often become dangerous in settings that require anything more than a pulse.

I hear you! I totally do. But I'm assuming that because she was passing (at the minimum level) both the lecture and clinical portions of the program they had no real grounds to dismiss her.

I figured she'd fail out sooner or later..but she learned to memorize the info for a test..then do a brain dump and forget it all after the test (still holding on to her 'beliefs')...not only did she pass and graduate...she passed the NCLEX...scarey!! I do hear that she has been fired from several jobs b/c of her attitude and unwillingness to take constructive critism...shocker :sarcastic:

it is a centuries old practice. Long before the advent of pills or suppositories women have been shoving strange things in there to combat pain issues lol. Who got the idea originally? Now that's a question. I would love to ask them "what made you even think about that?"

During the abd assessment lecture, I was saying that "walking and water" takes care of most constipation problems, and a student thought I said "walking on water??!!" Told wasn't sure but I didn't think Jesus was constipated.......we all laughed for awhile.

A young girl asked if she could get pregnant through the belly button because she was having many pregnancy symptoms.

LMAO!!!

Not nursing school related.,, but one of my ex friends was watching a documentary on aids when I came over. First thing she says to me was " is it seriously true you can only get HIV/aids through body fluids?!?! All this time I've been so nervous at work because I thought you could just get it from standing near them" (she worked in a blood donation clinic, where lots of low income people came in a lot just for the money). I was pretty shocked to say the least!!! Lol

I'm sure that it is true. And you are right, there are all sorts of things that make you wonder who was the first to think that was a good idea. Look at oysters, they look like something you suction out of someone. Yet, one day someone thought "Hey, that looks tasty."
