Hi guys,

I just passed patho 1 and am not looking forward to patho 2 next semester...... the manner in which the content is delivered along with the fact that no matter how much we read and study, do hw, online discussions, and reflective journals.........most of our class still has a hard time with the tests. I realize patho is a tough class, but I don't want to just pass it, I would really like to understand the information, which I feel like I forget as soon as I test. I was wondering if anyone has some advice on how to better understand patho as well as some advice on how to prepare for tests. Additionally, can anyone recommend any books or sites that might make it easier to understand?

Have you looked into what your personal learning style is? That may help guide you in finding better ways to remember the information. This site might help you figure it out: What's Your Learning Style?

Also, try looking into books that aren't quite as technical as your textbook. I personally like the Made Incredibly Easy and Made Incredibly Visual series when I was in school- not as a single source to rely on, but to help clarify.

You can also check out other textbooks as supplements. Sometimes the different language or perspective is all you need to achieve that "Aha!" moment. My personal favorites for this purpose are:

Textbook of Medical Physiology, Guyton and Hall. The absolute classic. Great book. Guyton and Hall Textbook of Medical Physiology, 12e: 9781416045748: Medicine & Health Science Books @ Amazon.com

The "... Made Incredibly Easy" series books are very good.

Thank you so much GrnTea, I will check all of those out!! I do think a supplemental book would help a lot, this gives me some direction as to what might be helpful!!
