Our nursing class grading scale is WAY easy...

I was just reading through the C=RN thread (very interesting!). A lot of people mentioned the grading scale at their school, and I just found out that this semester they changed the grading scale for the nursing classes at my school:

A= 89.5 - 100

B= 79.5 - 89.49

C= 75 - 79.49

Is that insane or what? In a way it's nice, but I think that I won't feel as much of a sense of accomplishment if I do get a low A, because I will know that it's not *really* an A.

But then part of me realizes I should drop the stupid pride and take what I can get, because the next two years are going to be HARD.

My school won't round grades. C=RN (75%), but 74.9 = Failure!

I think your scale is awesome! I wonder if graduate programs take the scale into consideration?

Good luck with school!

Yeah, our grading scale is as follows:

A = 92-100

B = 83-91

C = 75-82

Below that, you're out. I'd kill for 89.5 being an A.

We pretty much have the standard grading

A= 90-100

B= 80-89

Only in our school, anything below a B is failing.

:uhoh21: I think that's scary! Although I did well in pre-reqs...This is my 1st semester of Nurs classes...so I'm not sure what to expect yet!

Wow, I must have it made. I have not started school yet (I start tomorrow), but I think we are on the basic point scale.

90-100 A

80-89 B

70-79 C

I am fairly sure we can get a 70 and still pass. However, I migh be very surprised tomorrow!

GOOD LUCK EVERYBODY!

My school's scale is the same as Ali_Oop07's. 75 is passing, grades are not rounded AT ALL. They also do the whole +/- thing on final grades, which is sort of throwing me off as far as how GPAs are computed.

My school:

A= 93-100

B= 84-92

C= 75-83

Failure is not an option.

I would rather have your scale (80=B) then ours (80=C). Doesn't drag down the GPA as much!

Ours is:

94-100 = A

87-93= B

80-86= C

My grading scale is the exact same way. They set the bar higher this year because they said that students who make 70's and grades like that tend to not do so hot on the NCLEX.

Wow! You have a point! 80-86?? That's rough to make that a C. Those are definitely traditionally B scores!

Ours is:

94-100 = A

85-93 =B

77-84=C

Anything below 77= you just failed. The only rounding done is at the end of the semester for your final grade. For example if your final grade is a 84.5 then that =85 which will give you a B. But no leeway is given on individual tests, exams, or quizzes. Also even our quizzes are comprehensive. I think it's good cause it requires you to learn the material vs. memorize it. Is this the norm for other schools too?

A 94-100

B 86-93
