orientation??

  1. Hello all! We have our orientation to the nursing program in a couple of weeks. We had to send back a reservation and tell them if we were bringing a guest. I was just wondering what do they do at orientation? I plan on taking my husband with me and I hope it will give him some insight as to what is to come. I hope we just don't fill out neccesary paperwork. My husband will have to take off work to attend this with me and we don't have money to waste! If anyone thinks it would be valuable to take him along or if anyone can tell me what they do at orientation I would appreciate it. It is like 3 hours long. Just Curious!

Hi Rebecca! During our orientation which was also suppose to be 3 hours we went over the schools Philosophy and they kinda explained what we will do, gave a book of objectives for the semester and ate snacks. We didn't stay the full 3 hours it was short. Everyones orientation is probably going to be different though. I didn't take my husband I think he would have been bored. Good luck! www.geocities.com/ajax_clean/StudentNurse.html

I am on my schools orientation planning committee so maybe I can give you some additional insight. We plan on guest speakers (alums, college presient, instructors, etc.).Of course the obligatory refreshments. Also a tour of our great nursing lab and classrooms. We plan on an enlightening and encouraging afternoon (door prizes also). The goal is to introduce the new students to the upper levels and get aquainted with the "rules and expectations" of nursing students. My husband would be bored after the food even though he supports my efforts completely. He could best serve the family at work..money will be even tighter while in school!
