Only in nursing school do you walk out of an exam thinking you did well, check your notes and see you were right, to find out later that you barely passed WTH. Can't wait until tomorrow to see what went wrong =(

Only in nursing school can you walk into a room and hear some pretty perverse things and know they are not perverse.

IE: I walk into lab today and I hear "Can we share your lube" "Does anyone have any lube we can borrow" Or a classmate saying " I am going to be doing all the sucking on him" while pointing to which dummy she was going to practice the trach suctioning on!

Only in nursing school can your clinical instructor show up 1 hour and twenty minutes late and
1. we wait for instead of leaving
2. we call her at home and woke her up
3. have her make us stay 1 hour and twenty minutes late to make sure we actually got our clinical hours!!!

Only in nursing school clinicals - will your teacher come in while you are with a patient and their family, make you sound incompetent... Followed by you resuming your duties and the family staring at you as if you are holding a large scalpal and ready to amputate the patients leg. Its just a brief change - relax!!! My teacher was complaining about me taking a break on time, not the care related to your loved one!

No kidding!! We got told that if we actually test positive for H1N1, our absences won't count against us. Of course, the local docs have given up testing so we can't actually get the test. I'm fairly certain I had it and dragged my butt to school at the tail end of the illness (fortunately I was sickest during our fall break). I just couldn't miss the tests we had that day. Oh well.

Also, only in nursing school do all of us students freak out if we get a B on our tests. Seriously, we've all done it, and all had mini panic attacks.

Only in nursing school will an instructor tell you to reference your book to challenge a test question, then when question is challenged state "Well that's not what I said in class."

Only in nursing school will above mentioned test challenges be renamed to "test clarifications" (as in "let me clarify why you are still wrong")

Only in nursing school will a clinical instructor ask if you speak Cambodian ("No. Sorry. I speak English. Cambodian was not a prerequisite for this program").

Only in nursing school will an instructor tell a student that they will probably fail and that she needs Jesus (complete with gift of prayer book).

Only in nursing school can you talk about bodily functions with your classmates and not be grossed out.

But I love it!
(Almost done, May '10 here I come!)
