Online Rn-BSN programs

Hi,

I'd like to know how you feel about online RN to BSN programs. I've recently read about one at Penn State that has you do the necessary clinical work in your local setting and the rest is online.

Any comments/observations are welcome, thank you

I teach in an online RN-BSN program, but it's not Penn State. Many fine schools are starting to offer that option. If I were in your position, I would look for a program that is a part of a larger nursing school that includes "on campus" programs as well as the online programs -- such as Penn State. While there may be some programs of reasonable quality that are online schools only, I think you will be better off in the long run if you choose a school that is well-respected for ALL of its nursing programs and that has a faculty that works together, sees each other on a regular basis, etc. because they are part of a brick and morter school, too.

With so many options today for RN-BSN programs, you have lots to choose from. Choose a program that meets your needs ... but also has a good solid reputation overall as a school.

Thank you for your response llg.

I find so many courses can easily be taken online along with perhaps a day for labs/tests/questions.

I'm just wondering how it looks to people "on the inside" at say a hospital.

If perhaps it is preferable to finish the program on campus. I know with several programs I've researched, the diploma makes no distinction as to how you completed the credits.

Thank you for your insight.

I am in the process of looking for an online RN-BSN program to enter this fall. I have found many differences betwen them and some really seem to have it together and others I am not so sure about.

The advice from Ilg is good advice.
