Hi! My name is Sheila. I'm 42, just started my second year of a 3 year part-time evening program. Would like to be e-mail buddies with other older students who are juggling work, school, and families to give each other encouragement, information, and support.

Hi. My name is Helen. I'm 34 and just started a two year ADN program. I work full time and have three kids. I am a recent widow, so it's all on my shoulders now. Can really emphasize with you. Would like to find email buddies in same situation. Good luck!

Hi! I am 42 yrs. old and finishing what I started 12 yrs. ago. Tried Nursing school then but my 3 sons were too young and I became all stressed out. My sons are now 23,21, and 14. I work Full Time and decided to enroll in the Saturday/Evening Rn program at Community College. I still have to take a few courses prior to acceptance into the program. I am now taking Human Growth and Development. Next semester Chemistry, I am sooooo scared.......I hate Chemistry. I need all the encouragement I can get. I also feel that I will be old when I complete this program in 3 yrs. Anybody out there like me???

Hello Island Girl and all older students!

Im 34 years old, married w/kids, ages 4, 2, an a six-week old baby boy. I am also about to enter a BSN program in Jan. I can also use all the encouragement I can find. one of my prereqs, Human A&P, is only being offered during early am. With 3 kids and only one salary coming in right now, I can't afford any type of daycare. Does anyone know of an online course in A&P? Thanks, and please feel free to email me anytime. It feels good to know thst there are other people in my situations who knows how it feel

Hi! I am Jan and I am a 43 year old student at Miami University in Ohio. I am in my first year of the ADN program. Although I don't have kid's, I still find juggling work and marriage with school to be at times overwhelming. It is hard sometimes to relate to all of the 19 year olds who still live at home and don't seem to be quite so serious about nursing....

Remember...you are only as unique as everyone else

God Bless the "late bloomers". Speaking as a fellow late bloomer who started a 2 year ADN registered nursing program at 33, I feel your pain! I am now "50" and decided to get serious about obtaining my BS! I will finish next summer. My plan is to continue and get my MS! Yes, you must periodically put education on the back burner due to family obligations, but it can be done. ALSO, it's never too late! I must admit that I am enjoying school more now since I' a grandmother of 3 without children at home. Hang in there and take life as it comes because every day is precious. God Bless.

[b} Hi older students, I have unfortunately just found this site. I am a mature student, 40, with 3 children 3, 5 & 6. I am just coming in to my 2nd year on a nursing diploma course. I sometimes really feel like packing it in - not because of the work but the lack of money (no the work has something to do with it as well). I am having to work bank shifts in the hospital to make ends meet - it would be nice to get encouragement from others and also give encouragement when needed. I hope I can also contact you and others.

Hi Fellow Latebloomers!

I am 42 years old with 2 sons, 16 & 18 years old. I also waited until my kids were old enough before persuing my life-long goal of becoming a nurse. I am now in my 3rd year of a Bsc.nursing program and have just a little over a year left ... whew! It's been an incredible challenge, but so worth it! I would love to chat with other students who have similar scenarios.

Maureen

Hello

My name is Vanessa and I am a 39 year old , married with one 3 year old child. I received my Associate degree in nursing in 1984 and am back in school getting a major in environmental health and safety. I, too, know how hard it is to juggle a family, school, and a full time job. Would like to communicate with those in the same shoes.
