OH NO! the A & P classes are FULL!


Im stressing! I am hoping to attend Spring 09 to take A & P 1 and Summer 09 to take A & P 2, so I can be admitted to the fall 2010 nursing program. Since Im 'new' to teh school , the current students get a 4 WEEK head start and well 4 days into their head start and the A & P's are already gone! That is, the ones during the daytime and during the week. There are a couple on teh weekends and at night but that doesnt work for me. Im absolutely crushed. Getting into the Nursing program in the Fall is a must for me for many reasons. If I dont have those pre-reqs, I cant be admitted.

What can I do? Anything?

Crash it-- it worked for micro. I was on the wait list and the professor said she wouldn't add anyone since the class was completely packed. After class I went up and talked with her, told her that I needed this class. I said that I would stand in the back of the class and take zeros on all the assignments if I could add the class when someone dropped out. She agreed. I ended up standing in the back of the class for 2 weeks, missing 2 quizzes... and getting an A at the end of the semester. If you have the gall to show up early for every class, stand in the back taking notes and ask insightful questions the professor will more than likely add you. If nothing else you can try and challenge the class at the end.

You can either hope someone drops out by the time school starts or talk to the prof. and inform them you need this class now. When I did A&P, the classes were full because I decided a month before school started that I was finally going back. Luckily people dropped out so I was able to get in. Good luck!!!

Same happened with me, just get the emails of all the different professors and see if they can add you in, out of all the professors surely one of them can help accommodate you.

Seriously if you crash the class you will get in. People will drop after the first few classes. Ive done this so many times and always have got in. Like above poster says email the teacher before you go to to class and let them know you want add it, and they usually as space opens up s/he will add people in the order that students have contacted them.

Email or call the instructor and go through any proper channels to get on a wait list or sometimes they have the discretion to override the enrollment. The crashing is also not a bad idea if your school allows, we lost several students after the first couple of classes. And then just continue to watch it. there is a time limit for early enrollment students to pay for classes before the system drops them. This is how I was able to switch to the section I wanted last year. ;-)

Dress well, see them in person, explain your situation, explain your interest in the subject, and promise to do well. What more could they want?

"Course Crashing" was not allowed at my school. Generally no one dropped out of any of the nursing science courses because they were so hard to get into. Can you try changing your schedule around to take a one of those weekend or night courses?

Find out when tuition payments are due and watch the classes like a hawk that day. My first semester I got in to the two classes I was in because spaces opened up when tuition bills weren't paid on time.

Also, if nursing school in the fall is a must, then the weekend and night classes just might become a must for you too.

A&P is always going to fill up quickly. I have not heard of a school where if does'nt fill up right away. But the above posts are correct for the most part - watch the classes when tuition is due, and be ready as soon as someone does'nt have their ducks in a row for tuition for them to get dropped, and you take their space. Also, keeping in close, friendly contact w/ the actual A&P proffessors is also a very good idea. Also might I add, be ready for A&P, its hard. and depending on the school, it may be very hard,.
