Nutrition class question???

Nursing Students General Students

Published

OK, after changing my schedule about 4 or 5 times now, I have discovered something else just a couple of days ago. In the class schedule shen enrolling Applied Nutrition indicated it had no prerequisite. So I enrolled. Now I looked in the school catalog just for fun, and it said that A&P is a prereq. Well, I am also taking that this semester. Do you guys think that I will be OK not having A&P first, before nutrition? Because there IS NO WAY I am rearranging this schedule again! I will bust my butt to learn nutrition, even if I don't know A&P yet!!!:roll

i really don't know on the "applied" part of that title. my school only offers one nutrition course, so i don't think it is an advanced type of course. let's hope not anyway! my junkfood potato chip body doesn't know much about nutrition!

ashemson, i really like my nutrition course, probably because the instructor actually brings the patient into the setting, diets for patients.. etc.. i have learned alot in 2 weeks time already.. as for the applied part, the only thing i can add to that is that we get into groups, go shopping for some items.. we also are in groups for an ethnic food that we will prepare w/paper... and also we will keep track of our daily intake for one day.

;)

A previous student did mention once that all the tests are actually "applying" what you have learned, so MKUE you are probably right on. I think it will alot of hands on, instead of reciting what the books says.

At my school, if a class is a prerequisite, you have to take it concurrently or in a previous semester.

So, if A&P is a prereq, and you are taking it this semester with the nutrition class, you should be fine.

And yes... schools do make mistakes. Huge ones sometimes. There was a second year nursing student last year who somehow almost graduated without ever passing A&P 2. Now she's suing the school because they wouldn't let her graduate.

Go figure.

OMG! So someone must have caught the mistake, should the student have known that she didn't get a passing grade? and just retaken the course before she graduated? :)

I would say that if the computer system let it go through you should be ok.

That's what I was gonna say!! Those darn computers....scr*w ya every time...

Good luck!!!
