Nursing School Bag - Vera Bradley

Hi,

I am doing my last semester for pre-reqs and wanted to get a VB bag to use for this semester, nursing school, and then hopefully to be able to use while working as my work bag. I'm looking at the 'Get Carried Away tote' and the 'Weekender'. Has anyone seen these in person (or have them) and, if so, which would you think is better for nursing school, especially to hold all the books and supplies I'll need?

Thanks!

I love Vera, but for school I got this bag because it rolls, I could get it in pink (it comes in other colors, but I am a pink-o-holic), it's super sturdy, and I got my initials on it just in case anyone thought it looked interesting enough to take. I love, love, love the weekender for travel.

Just wanted to thank all of you for your input. I had originally been pretty set on the 'get carried away' bag, especially as one of the first reviews on the website is from someone who used it during nursing school and raved about it. However, based on reading the comments here, I ended stopping by my local VB store in person to see the bags and I'm very glad I did. When I kept hearing people talk about the size of the GCA bag, I assumed it wouldn't bother me because I am a big overpacker and tend to use huge bags. That bag is really HUGE though. I don't know if I could carry it without looking ridiculously awkward because I'm only 5'3. The "Vera" mentioned by many posters on this thread was a lot larger than it looked on the website and definitely looks more appropriate for what I need. I'm thinking I may get the Miller bag too down the road (I've seen it go on sale often during the fall) for times when I need a very large bag because although I'm not sure that it is super far off measurement wise from the GCA, it looks a lot smaller and more manageable on me.

Thanks again!

I bought the Vera bag a couple years ago & I love it! I used it for 2 semesters then decided to use a backpack last semester. I'm not sure which one I'm using next semester though!

I have thirty one organizing utility tote for work. It is great because it has seven pockets on the outside of the bag and can even be monogrammed. I love mine!

For school I got a Jansport rolling backpack. That thing is awesome and carries everything! For clinical though I got a super cute 31 tote!

How about a backpack like a normal student?

Boring?

^^^Typical nursing girl, stuff like this is why some people can't take us seriously. Why don't you bedazzle your stethoscope why you are at it? Maybe some designer scrub tops too?

What do you mean people don't take us seriously because someone wants a Vera Bradley bag? That's crazy. There is nothing wrong with being fashionable while wearing scrubs or looking cute at school. You better bet people take me seriously when I have a 4.0 GPA and know what the hell I am doing. But I also wear super cute scrubs to my labs and have a cute bag. I see nothing wrong with it. It's called being a girl. :sarcastic:

To each there own. Nothing wrong with beddazzled stethoscope as long as it is used well.

I agree! I spend 99% of my life in scrubs between school and work; nothing wrong with wanting to look and feel a little feminine! If someone is going to judge a nurse based on the color of her scrubs rather than her skills and knowledge, then it sounds like someone else has the issue; not the nurse.

We are supposed to be professionals, when was the last time you saw a doctor with a Hello Kitty scrub top or bedazzled stethoscope? Oh that's right...never.
