Nursing 1 and A&P II

Hi everyone, I went to my orientation on 8/22 and am a bit worried. I mapped out my class schedule with my registrar and had planned to take my Nursing 1 class at the same time as A&P II. But during orientation, the professor basically said that was a deathtrap :nono: !So, I tried to rearrange my schedule and decided to finally keep it the way it is...Has anyone done this & how successful were you? Just FYI, I have 3 children & work so this makes me "a statistic", but I have taken both A&P 1 and 2 before and passed with B's so I feel like I may have a chance (I have to take them over, because it was over 5 years ago) Please let me know what you think!!!

Wow well I would suggest that you have a strict study pattern and stick to it.

I know hubby did not want to have anything other than the Nursing Program to do so he got all his 'ologies' out of the way first.

I do have friends here who are doing as you are. No doubt it is doable but you have a load on your plate.

With the support of hubby and help in the home you can do this.

I wish you all the success that this brings you. :)

it is going to be hard but it is doable. I know someone that did nursing 1 with micro. just manage your time well and you will be fine and if your kids are of age show them how to manage things around the house so you do not get distracted. Good luck you have come this far:nono:

I had my first day yesterday. I'm taking my first year nursing classes with A&P II. Its two nights a week from 7-10 after a full day of either all nursing lectures, or my clinical. It's going to be tough, but I am going to do it. Its very possible just take some getting used to, organization, and some good ol' sweat and tears. I also have a slight advantage. I don't have a family to worry about. Although everyone in my house is a student so not much gets done around here lately;). Anything is possible if you have your mind dead set on it. After waiting 3 years to get into my program its going to take death to make me stop. Good luck!

I feel your pain. I have Nursing one and also took Micro. I also work 32 hrs a week and have a family. My advisor looked at me like I was nuts, but I really want to get that micro out of the way.

Several students in our program didn't get all the co-reqs out of the way and were taking A & P II during our first semester. I won't say it was a piece of cake; often they had tests in the other class when we had ours and there was a lot of verbal stress being shared. BUT, they all passed and are with us during our 3rd semester.

It can obviously be done, but won't make life simple. Get organized and stay on top of things and know that December will be here before you know it!!!

Good luck!!

I am in the same boat as you. I am enrolled in nursing I(Starting Tuesday!!) and also I am enrolled in A &P II. I do not have any children, but I am working 40 hours a week. I too, have already taken A &P I and II but that was like 9 years ago!! I took A &P I last semester and got an A and I have the same professor this time. The class is also on Saturdays, which is nice. I think we can do it!! Plus we can support eachother!! Goodluck to you!!

Normal semester one for ours is Fundamentals (probably about the same as Nursing I) Pharmacology and A&P II, I was fortunate enough to have it done before starting but most others did just fine

Well, if youre stressed about youre schedule I wont even tell you mine!! LOL

I am taking A&P1, PSY100, Clinical Math, Nur101(fundamentals) and Nur 111(clinical)

This is 17 credits and is the normal work load(for my school)...Im handling it okay so far...

Good Luck to you!!

Don't let instructors or advisors scare you. If you put your mind to it, you'll get it done. :)

Best of luck to you!!

I did it and survived. It really requires staying up with all your reading and being very organized. I took both A&P I/II previously, but it had been over 10 years, so much was forgotten. I also worked 32 hours during first semester. I got an A and a B that semester, so I was pleased given the workload. My best advice is to utilize other students in your A&P class for help with studying. I was able to get copies of other students answers to review questions that weren't required, but truly helped for the exams. This alleviated a large chunk of time devoted to my A&P and allowed review and learning, but I was able to devote the majority of my reading/note taking time to my NSG class. Good luck!
