Yes, I'll be attending as a delegate from our school. Tickets are purchased and hotel reservations are made. I hear the area is beautiful but I'm not looking forward to all the flying.

Yes, I'll be there too! Looking forward to the break from classes!

Hi Kat! I will be a delegate as well. I'm a little nervous about that. Are you the only one going from your school? I am going alone. I have been meaning to look into the weather so I know what kind of clothes to take!

I will be there from Tuesday morning until Saturday afternoon. I will miss the closing address, but I really wanted to be home before Sunday since I'll be gone all week.

I hope your flight is uneventful. Where are you flying from? I'm flying from Indianapolis and I think I have decent flights.

Hi Jess!

Are you the only one from your school attending? I was wondering what others do to make up their missed clinical time. My instructor agreed for me to miss the time and said she'd find something for me to do to make it up, and I'm quite nervous about that! LOL

I believe 15 of us are going, along with two of our favorite instructors. We'll be flying from south Florida. I think it's going to be a bit chilly, at least by south Florida standards. We get home Sunday afternoon or evening. Not sure about that. We will be missing one clinical day. The Thursday just happens to fall on a teacher planning day so nothing missed there. I have to write a paper about my experience at the convention to make up for the missed clinical time.

You'll have a great time. I went to the one last year in Daytona....so much free stuff & job opportunities. My friend & I had bags full - we looked like we had been shopping at the mall. Have a wonderful time - let us know how it was!

I'm originally from Salt Lake. It is really pretty. It will probably be freezing, but sometimes Salt Lake has freak weather and it's warm. If you get a chance, go up in the mountains--up to Snowbird or Alta the ski resorts just to see the mountains, they are beautiful. If you have a whole day I highly reccommend going snow shoeing. You can rent snow shoes from REI an outdoorsy store, they will tell you the best places in the mountains to go. I miss the snow!

Snow you can have it.Yuck! The mountains and the skiing are great but are kind of cold for the floridia girls .I am from Califorina so I know of which I speak. OK I am not going, but live here in SLC .The weather has been running 30 to 40 mostly cold in the morning but then warming in the afternoon Just do a MSN weather search and enter 84104 in the zip code it will tell you what the weather will be like the day before you leave so you will know how to pack .. It should be very pretty here with flowers just starting to bloom the word is layer your clothing bring a warm jacket..Some times it could be in the teens ,then go up to 60 or so we have had some days start cold and then get warm.

I haven't used snow boots all snow season just non casual shoes non open toed .This winter I have not froze a bit and only wore my heavy coat once.

Just thought I'd let you know if you want to rent a car in April do it now because that's when LDS Church conference is here and people stay awhile. To visit there families Also most of car rental is a little off the airport site So make sure you call for the car rental bus to take you to the car rental place..the minute you get off the plan Hertz has the nicest cars .By the way the bus is free down town in the free zone also is the trax train but just down town. The bus/ trax driver will tell you where its no longer free zone.

Things to see in your spare time ,down town is the Beehive house ,LDS temple square ,Delta center and lots of good shopping beautiful quilts to buy and handcrafts Also you may want to take the train to the U of U where all the Olympic stuff is . We have excellent Hospitals here .U of U and primary children's hospital on the train route. If you and the other nurses want to take tour just call them ahead of time .The hospitals would love it if you do visit.

Food down town can get a little pricey also if you drink alcohol they have a special charge for that at restaurants .So you may want to go a little further out away from SLC just to eat . Also usually to drink alcohol they charge a (membership fee )for a party of people usually 5.00 or so.plus an open bottle charge so make sure you ask before opening a bottle of wine

When your going home TSA at the airport is very strict so make sure you don't wear shoe with metal or remove them and wear socks through the line also nothing that could be taken as a sharp send it on the plane.or metal on your person our detctors are very sensitive because of the Olympic's Walk though with your hands outstreatched though the dector .So TSA can see your Palms . No hat's your more likley to be picked for seach .TSA get a little nervous arround LDS conferance time (I used to work at the airport.)

http://WWW.TSA.gov will tell you all that's curentally allowed in carry on.

Nurses from Flordia if your comeing Contanental air lines make sure you pack a carry on with clothes They are the very worst about loseing your luggage here .Delta flights are much better.

Hope this helps

Welcome to Salt lake city. We hope you enjoy your stay .

hi everyone! I just bought my ticket to the conference too! I'll be leaving philadelphia on wed and staying until saturday afternoon, just after the delegation voting. We have hundreds of members for snap and nsna but only around 25 are going to the conference because there was a GPA limit because of the amount of missed school. Any C's, you don't go. But I think its great how many delegates are here on allnurses! I'm so excited. I didn't go anywhere for springbreak so I could go to Salt Lake. Also is anyone taking American Airlines? I try to avoid US airways and United for the life of me.:)
