Not sure about financial aid

Hello all nurses!! I have a situation here, I've been accepted into my local colleges lvn program and everything is going well except for my financial aid. I attended this same college back in 2013 but dropped out due to something's that went on. So back to now, I am applying again for financial aid but was told that I may have to do an appeal since I dropped out of all my classes from then. Is there any other options I can go through besides student loans to help pay for my classes just in case I get denied any financial aid? Any advice or tips are welcome!! Thanks so much in advance.

There's the obvious ...a job? If you can't get it free, you don't want to pay it back, and your rich boyfriend isn't going to gift it to you, then ...maybe it will just fall from the sky?

I do work, and I've been saving but I'm just worried about the financial aid. Hopefully everything will pull through. Oh and no boyfriend for me unfortunately, but thanks for the advice! :)

You should Google "scholarships for nursing students in " Several community org's in my hometown fund scholarships, such as Sons of Norway, Lions Club, a couple families in honor of their deceased. I applied for all of them I was eligible for, spent a few hours writing application essays, and ended up getting $1000 or so for school (20 years ago.)

I would encourage you to do the appeal. I had to return to school to pursue my degree in business about 5 years ago after some health issues. I am sure that it varies by school but my experience was easy as could be, although it sounded scary. Basically, schools have federal requirements to not keep feeding you aid if you are not going to be successful. Your goal here is to show them that although there were less than ideal situations in your past, you are capable and will be successful. For my school, I had to write a letter for appeal outlining what went wrong before, how I could assure them that it wouldn't happen again and let them know my educational goals. It was a 1-2 page typed letter and within a week I received clearance to continue receiving aid.

I would definitely take a college loan if I am accepted into a program because I know I will have a job after passing NCLEX.

This happened to me for failing a class at Rio Salado, they denied my appeal. I get financial aid for Chandler Gilbert community college as well as all the others aside from Rio. Try going to a different community college and your financial aid should go through. I will never take out student loans. Pell grant covers everything for the RN program at community college level and what little it might not I will pay out of pocket. Western Governor's University offers a great accelerated very affordable BSN degree I will do upon completion of my RN program.
