No she did not describe the purulent drainage as "*****" in her nursing notes.... :chuckle
OMG! This very same thing happened to my husband at work...his co-worker wrote "Green pus-sy discharge" in her note. He asked, "Don't you mean purulent?" ....much to her embarrassment!

No he didn't tell me during report when I was handing over the patient that he thought that the hospice patient with lung cancer had pulmonary hypertension and that was why she couldn't breathe. Um hello end stage lung cancer. Besides there was no coarse crackles or jugular vein distention or ANYTHING or the sort.

Same guy oh no didn't turn up for work wearing his student uniform right down to the white pants and jacket with school patch. Oh no he didn't tell me he had 3 years hospice experience and yet not understand any of the basic concepts.

Almost ate my first nurse that day. Boy would that have been tasty.

No she didn't (my sister) as a new cna was to to dress mr. x for breakfast, so when she got in the room she said he was giving her a hard time standing up to get his pants on. When she went to the nurse to tell her mr. x was up and ready the nurse said honey how did you do that he is paralyzed from the waist down . My sister then said no wonder he kept sliding. let's just say she never went back and is no longer a cna.

No the psych RN didn't grab the agitated female psych patient by her ponytail and pull her across the room in a fit of rage. The RN was fired.

No she didn't announce to the class and the insructor that she found a pts. pain med. stash and did nothing about it. She asked how she could rectify the situation. Mind u clinicals were a wk ago. That was the last day we saw her.

Oh no she didn't fold up the med sheet and take it home in her pocket. A nursing student years ago did this. We spent 3 shifts looking for it and ended up making a new one. She came walking in the next day and was caught trying to put it back in the book.

    No she didn't:

Transport her patient to the hospital's chapel (via wheelchair) for the 10 am service at 10:15 am with the patient's 90 year old father (with major hearing loss) pushing the patient's IV pole in the front.

    Here's what happened:

The father entered the chapel first with the IV pole at his side. After he entered, the patient's extra wide wheel chair got stuck in the doorway. The father didn't noticed and kept moving forward. As he advanced, the IV tubing became taught and the huber needle almost ripped right out of his daughter's IV port.

To keep this from happening, she (the nursing student) had to yell, "DAD STOP!!!!!" to the patient's dad (because she didn't know his name and he wasn't responding to anything else) making a huge scene in the middle of the jam packed chapel service.

Luckily, he stopped just in time and the huber needle was not ripped out and the patient and dad were then seated/wheeled to the last available spots, in the front row.

*This happened to me during my 3rd semester of nursing school. I am the "she."

Lol!! How embarrassing!! I have another chapel-story:

No she did not ... hearing impaired, elderly confused woman during silent prayer time yells out, voice booming everywhere, "Well nothing much seems to be going on in here!!!" so loud we could hear it on the televised version of the service. CNAs scrambling everywhere to get here out of there! LOL!

    No she didn't:

....Massage a patient's leg b/c the patient was complaining of pain due to a DVT!!!! (student)....

....Put a big urinal full of dark pee right next to the patient's breakfast because she thought it was tea....

....Grab the wrong cleaning wipes to give a bed bath - used toilet wipes to clean down a patient, the wipes were disintegrating on the patient's skin because they were flushable LOL.....
