New.thrifty ADN student paying for school. Is this to much?

I've seen MUCH higher, (especially with regards to books).

I've also seen cheaper tuition.

Personally, I think you are getting a fair price. Did you say this was the bill for both of you? If it is then you are getting a VERY good price!

From one cheap person to another, I can tell you, education is never a bad investment. That nursing degree will pay you back 100 fold.

What branch of the service were you in? Are you going to be a military nurse?

That's over twice as much as I paid for my first semester (which was also the most expensive, book and supply-wise), but then too, I am at a small community college in Wyoming, where I am a resident. These kinds of things vary so widely..I'd be willing to bet there are plenty who paid lots more than you, too.

Ah the GI bill. If only I would have choosen nursing in the first place and not changed my major so late in the game, I'd still have that too, and it would probably mean not having to work or working a lot less than I do now. You know that old saying about hindsight...

No, this is my just my tuition. My wife is going thru LPN. After they figured in GI bill, grants, and loans. I was left with a $1300 credit. My wife on the other hand was left still owing $1900. Luckily they will let us transfer to her balance. I just don't see how anyone else in our classes can pay that. Assuming that the majority will still owe around $2000 after grants and loans. Even if they setup an installment plan that's still $500 a month. The vast majority of the students is married with children.

I was army. I'm undecided on what I want to do after. There's just so, so many options. I think thats one of the things I like most about nursing.

Here's my wife's costs.

IMHO, I think they are charging you about right, but if you want to make sure you can call around the other schools in your area and ask what thei tuition is and compare.

IMHO, I think they are charging you about right, but if you want to make sure you can call around the other schools in your area and ask what thei tuition is and compare.

I did the same thing (private school) and pay just close to $20,000/year. I think nursing school is worth it no matter how much you pay.

That being said....I love loans!

Hi ! My wife and I are both starting our first semester monday! I'm a new college student and am a little shocked by the price of education! If it were'nt for my GI bill I don't think we could pay for school. I always like to get the "best deal" on something. Is this to high for school? Or am I just to stingy?

That is about the same as what I'm paying (mine is a little more...but not by much) at a small private hospital-affiliated college...no wait list though (actually now there is a short one, right after my class got in). If we work for the hospital after we graduate, they will pay off most of it.

I'm attending Community College. Two years of pre/co requities and two years of nursing. Total cost for all four years is only around $12,000. Thats everything except for books.

As long as that is for the whole program, and not just 1st semester as it looks like then, well, you're just being stingy. lol

(Try computing the cost of a university! OUCH!!!)

Anyway, tell me if it's none of my business, but why is your wife going for LPN & you RN?

Anyway, good luck!!!!! (Congrats on having some type of money to go to school, congrats on your decision go go back to school, and congrats on your future RN and LPN statuses! :chuckle
