Needing help deciding which classes to take! Have you ever taken these together??

hi all! i am wanting to go for my adn starting fall 2013. i applied last year, but didn't get in. i had taken all pre-req's but micro, but i had c's in my anatomy's. so, seeing that i am really, really, really going to have to try everything to get into the program...i am going to retake my anatomy's and try to get a's in them, take micro(hopefully get an a as well), and now, since it has been over 10 years so i have to take chemistry too.!( it has been probably 8 years since my anatomy's, so honestly i am happy to retake them! i certainly need a refresher, and i am a much more motivated student than i was eight years ago when i took them!)

anyway, i have really just now decided to try again for the program. i only have the summer and fall semester to complete these courses in time to turn in my application and get the points for them.

if it was you, what route would you take? chemistry and a&p1 in the summer, and micro and a&p2 in the fall...or vice versa?? technically, i have already taken my anatomy's so i guess i could take them both in a semester and micro and chemistry the next..but that sounds awful., too! i am dreading micro and chemistry! lol! anybody ever done classes together like this? what classes would you recommend????

i am not the smartest person in the world, but i am bound and determined to get into this program...so i have to do well!! any advice or experience with this would be appreciated!! thanks!!

I would take chemistry and A&P I together, and A&P II with micro. IMO A&P II was easier than A&P I, so I'd want to take that with micro, which is difficult.

Are the summer classes 'condensed'? Because in my experience, the classes that crunch a semester's worth of work into a 6 week course are generally easier. The instructors realize the longer class times means less info gets retained so they tend to stick to the key points more and really emphasize the need to know info. Are you retaking A&P with the same instructors? You should if you can, the tests will probably be the same or really similar.

Thank you for your reply! I may do what you have said:) And no, not the same instructor...it has been 8 years or so since I last took A&P, and also was in a different state/college.

as far as i know they are not condensed?? i mean, i think the summer semester is a little shorter than the rest...right? but not sure about that one!

My school has 6 week summer courses and 12 week summer courses. Regular semesters are 14-15 weeks I think. I always opt for the 6 week courses when I can - the class times are often like 4 hours two days a week but the instructors rarely feel like staying that long so I think they make it easier by teaching from the tests. It'd be worth looking into :) Good luck!

Clovery, thanks! I will definitely check into it, that sounds great!!

I say take A&PI and Chem together, and A&PII with Micro...I took A&PII with Micro and got A's in both classes, so very doable! Chem will also help a little with the A&P's. HTH :)
