Register Today!- Aug 24, '12 by RunnerRN2b2014We have a vendor we have to buy from because they embroider our school logo on the tops. 2 pants, 2 tops, a polo shirt, a white lab coat, and an optional scrubs jacket. Total is around $150...but we know ahead of time that we have to order and pay for them. We have a large box in the skills lab where graduates can donate their old scrubs so students who can't afford scrubs (or want some extras) can get some.
- Aug 24, '12 by tenjunaDon't feel bad, I was required to buy 3 sets of uniforms for $100 each, and lab coats for another $40 each...none of which fit me.
- Aug 24, '12 by SunshineDaisySorry there is a monopoly on your scrubs! The semester students that started the semester after me have to buy the school scrubs now. They have our patch embroidered on now, instead of the sew on patches. I'm kinda glad I didn't have to do that! I don't like looking 100% like everyone else!
- Aug 24, '12 by RainbowDashQuote from SunshineDaisyI actually kinda like our scrubs in appearance, nice navy scrubs and a nice white real scrub top (read: no polos or button downs or other atrocities) and our seal is embroidered on along with "Nursing" so you get to feel all special. But I have shopped for scrubs before and 50 for that quality is unheard of. However, I've chosen to just accept it and move on - the learning is important, not if your scrubs cost a fortune and make your butt itchSorry there is a monopoly on your scrubs! Thanks for letting me vent - I'm starting to love AN.com - very helpful, informative, fun, and educational!RunnerRN2b2014 likes this. - Aug 24, '12 by SunshineDaisyI think if our scrubs weren't all white with button down top I'd be ok! It just looks so stiff, ya know?! But, it is what it is! And like you said, what we are learning is important!
- Aug 24, '12 by LadyinScrubsLet's hope the school is accredited with a quality program. Paying $40,000 for your program--outrageous. I am assuming the school is one of those national, private training companies. Since you mentioned it, I assume you are required to buy your scrubs only from the school and they are charging you. Get one pair only. See if you can find duplicate them with some you can buy elsewhere. If you have embroidery on the scrubs, many companies can duplicate the logo. $50 a set is high for school scrubs. A school I attended required us to buy our scrubs from Dove. They were expensive but they are so well made that I think they will be in great shape years later when I retire--despite all the washings/dryings. Now, I just buy my scribs from WalMart.
- Aug 24, '12 by RainbowDashQuote from LadyinScrubsYeah I may try that, and yeah the school is SACS and NLNAC accredited - I would never waste my precious time or money on a school that would set me up for failure!Let's hope the school is accredited with a quality program. Thanks for the tips though - I'll have to see if that can be done!!!
- Aug 24, '12 by RainbowDashQuote from SunshineDaisyGood gracious, white bottoms too? I really have no right to complain at all then... and my heart goes out to you!!! :redpinkheI think if our scrubs weren't all white with button down top I'd be ok! It just looks so stiff, ya know?! - Aug 24, '12 by KikikinsWell I will never complain about my scrubs! I got 2 ICU tops, 3 ICU bottoms all in indigo plus another ICU top in the required white for Clinicals -- all for about $107. I am missing the lab coat but I just could not bring myself to buy one out of the selection at the store. Good luck to all on their garb search!
- Aug 24, '12 by SkipsWe got ours from a vendor since everything is embroidered with the school logo and such. It was actually very affordable! I got two tops, one pair of pants, and a lab coat for $72. Not bad. I like them, too. (:
