Molloy Dual Degree Program Fall 2015 Applicants

Hey Everyone!

I noticed that Molloy has a lot of old threads from past years applicants, so I wanted to start a new one for the applicants applying to Molloy's Fall 2015 Dual Degree program.

Does anyone have any news to share? Has anyone been invited to take the tests or been selected for an interview yet?

Yes! I actually received my decision letter a few days after I made this post! Have you taken the exams?? I took the exams, and was never asked to interview. It was like exactly two weeks after the exams I received my letter!

Congratulations! I took the exams; last one on April 10th. I kept thinking that I have to call to get an interview appointment til I reread the letter. I called them today and they said sometimes they ask for an interview, and that the decision letter is mailed out. I'm just getting nervous about the decision especially since there was no interview :-\ I guess you not having one puts me at ease a tiny bit :)

Yes! I was so nervous that I never got an interview. I thought it meant bad news, I'm not sure how they decide who gets an interview and who does not. But more often then not, if you were invited to take the exams, you are most likely in :). Do you have all of your prerequisite science classes? Will you be going to molloy if accepted?

I'm really hoping so...I'll be on pins and needles til then lol. No, I still have to take A&P. I'm taking a few classes now. What about you?

At this point, I'm willing to go anywhere who accepts me. I'm kind of concerned about how they schedule their classes. Everyone is complaining about how it's taking them longer than what Molloy had advertised and I'm not in the mood to practically be in undergrad again for 3+ years. If all goes smoothly, then probably. Are you going?

Yes I have all my science pre req's. Where else did you apply? I heard the same thing about Molloy, but I actually know a girl in the program now who entered with all her pre-req's done already, and she says she will finish on time. She started this past fall and will end next may. I feel like most of the students who have problems with finishing on time are the ones who have none of the pre req's completed before starting the program. You only have one pre req class to take so you should be fine. Yes I will be enrolling, I had applied to Stony Brook and received an interview but I was denied, and Molloy was my second choice due to location and cost, so thats where I will be starting in the fall! I absolutely love the faculty and the campus. Everyone was so so nice when I went there. And my friend who is in the program now says that she had to choose between NYU and Molloy and obviously she chose Molloy and she is so completely happy there. They actually are in the middle of building an entire new nursing facility on the campus that will be ready by next fall (possibly next spring), which is so awesome!

So I just got my acceptance letter :)

I'm glad you shared that because that makes me feel better about Molloy. I had applied to GWU and NYU, was going to submit my app for College of New Rochelle this weekend but I don't know if there's any point now. I wish the confirmation deadline wasn't next week...small problem lol. Did you happen to talk to an advisor there to see how your projected semesters will look like? I feel like I should do that before I accept. But yay, maybe we'll be classmates!

Congratulations! I was actually just at Molloy today because I passed the math, but I got 13.4 on the Nelson Denny (idk how, I didn't think I was that bad at english!) So I have to take ENG 101. I'm deciding whether or not to take it this summer or in the fall. I talked to the associate dean of nursing real quick though and it seemed like I should graduate within a year and a half, but yes I would talk to an advisor and find out your projected semesters! It will give you some relief. They are so nice and helpful there, but I honestly suggest you show up to the school and ask in person bc they are a little slow at getting back to people by email and phone. I also applied to NYU and GWU! I hope we are classmates! If you accept let me know! We can find each other on FB and maybe start a group in the future.

Thank you! I was going to private message you but I guess I can't do that.

That sucks about English. Probably better to take during the summer to get it out of the way and you get to familiarize yourself with campus before it gets all hectic in the fall.

So I just came back from Molloy, gave in my deposit and got depressed about loans...yay. I didn't get a chance to talk to an advisor since they need appointments. I guess I'll do that in time for registration. So when you say 1.5 years, is that 3 semesters plus next summer? I thought everyone has 5 semesters regardless of prereqs.

Hahah I know I was depressed too! But don't be, we're going to school for a great career. I know two people who graduated from molloy and they're starting salaries were over 80k. I mean it varies of course but we will be fine! Molloy has a great reputation. What I meant by 1.5 years is yes five semesters including summer. I guess technically it's two school years, but in actuality it's from September/August 2015 - May 2016. Which is like a year and 8 months. I mean it's almost two years but it's no where near three years. The thing is that there is a summer session but you can only take the summer session if you have a 3.2 or higher. So people who take longer then expected may not have had the average to take the summer session and had to wait until fall. I know someone in the program now and she's exactly on track. She started this past fall and will graduate next May.
