Merritt College, Fall 2014

Students General Students

Hello everyone!

I am starting the Merritt College nursing program on August 18th, 2014. I was hoping someone might have some information about why this years class size is so much smaller than in previous years.

From what I understand Merritt had a reputation for accepting more students than it could handle, and weeding out a large portion of each class through a very vigorous courseload during the first 9 weeks. I am wondering if this is still going to happen even though our class size seems so much smaller than in the past.

I also heard a rumor that the reason the class is so much smaller is because they lost funding, which would probably mean that the weeding out process would be just as rigorous. I appreciate that many people who worked very hard did not make it through the program and that must be very frustrating. With that being said, please don't try to scare me out of the program. I don't have kids or pets, and I am more than willing to not work, stay up nights, and study through the weekend in order to make it through this program. I am already almost done with the Fundamentals textbook and will hopefully have time to start reviewing the dosage calculations book before school starts.

I just have seen so many scathing reviews, I am hoping to hear about some of the success stories! If you are a proud Merritt bootcamp survivor, sing your praises to me! As for those of you who didn't make it through the program, I would be interested to hear your honest opinions, but try to be encouraging. This isn't meant to be a "slam Merritt" thread.

Thanks!

Kate
