Is it me? Last few weeks of NS and my motivation is flagging.

I am having a poor me moment so please excuse the vent....

I am tired to my very bone and this has been an horrendous semester for a number of reasons (unrelated to NS). No I have a kidney infection and am peed off even more.

Does everyone get like this close to graduation?

Specializes in PICU/Pedi.

I have five weeks until graduation, and I am SO sick of school. I hate clincals, I hate working with adults (gonna be a pedi nurse, I think) - I don't even like my tech job right now. I have the crappiest attitude. I'm hardly studying, but I'm not doing anything fun, either. I'm so ready to graduate, but scared to death, too. I feel like I knew more before I started nursing school. I know technically that's not true, but just can't remember anything right now. My Tb test results are due Monday, or I can't go to clinicals. I almost didn't get it done in time, which sent me into panic mode. My boyfriend said that it seems llike I "have been really freaking out about school the last few weeks." I'm like, "Do ya THINK?!?!" Try the last four years...

Only a few more weeks left and I am right there with you!!! It has been a long 2 years and I am ready to be DONE!!!

Even with doing a 14 month accelerated program (I don't know how anyone does 4 YEARS!) which I really enjoyed, the last semester (which I think was 5 weeks) I just wanted to be done. It was really hard to care about writing several more papers (I kept thinking, "Really? Is this going to make a hill of beans of difference when I am a nurse?) and several group projects (when all of us were off doing preceptorships at different times and places) and a final portfolio project. I found it all really annoying. I just kept telling myself, "I have to do this to be a nurse. I have to do this to be a nurse."

You are almost done. You can do it. I agree with giving yourself some time off. (I am sure my papers the last semester were not nearly as good as they could have been but I really didn't care - did not affect my ability to pass NCLEX or my ability as a nurse) Go to a movie, take a nap, go to dinner with a friend. Just be sure you DO actually finish those last few things. Before you know it, you will be posting that you passed NCLEX and you will be a nurse! Congrats on finishing a tough course of study!

My senioritis is flaring up something terrible as well. I couldn't care less about school, I like going to clinical but I would rather be laying in bed sulking about the fact that I have gotten two job rejections and no calls from anyone else... I can't get anyone from school to go out and try to have fun with me because despite them feeling the same way, they somehow find it in themselves to stick to studying just as much as they have been for the last 4 years... I've been getting everything done weeks in advance and all of the BS busy work they've given us has been done since like the second week of the semester. I can't wait for graduation and to get out of here and move back home, yet now I'm wondering if that's even possible without being able to find a job there. Sum: FML.

Last graded test of my nursing program is here!!! After today (if I pass lol) it should be smooth sailing, as long as I don't harm a patient during my Senior Practicum! Almost done!!!

Thank you, I passed, we have some busy work left but nothing that is graded. ALMOST THERE!!!!!! Good luck on your finals. I like how my school planned it, they had us finish our Advanced Med/Surg 2 final before we started Senior Practicum. So now we are stress free and can just focus on the Practicum.

Lucky you. My school makes it so that we would take Advanced Med/Surg 2 at the same time with Colloqium (which I'm guessing to similar to your practicum). And we have final for it the week before the fourth exam!

This semester had had a lot of busy work, but over I felt has been really good. We had advanced med surg 2 and another class, Management and Leadership. Than I am taking a 1 credit filler class (Med Term). For advanced med/surg we had 4 weeks of clinicals during the class and 12 quizzes and the final in the first 10 weeks, but now we are done with that and have 3 weeks left. The other class it's hard not to get an A in and it's just tons of busy work. Usually all he other semesters have not been like this at all, so it's been really nice how they did this one. We usually had like 4 exams for a class. Big exams, for this semester we had 12 quizzes that were worth 15 points and 2 of those were worth 10. It was nice because it wasn't so much material crammed into each test like previously, the downfall though is there is no room for error. When you have a 10 point quiz, if you miss 1 you are already at a B. The final was worth 50 points.

But overall this has been my favorite semester so far.

I agree, it was a lot of busy work this semester. My school combined management and leadership into med/surg 2- so it's been pretty crazy! They asked so many questions on it and their questions are super tricky (they really want to punish us I guess...). We have also 12 quizzes which is 5% of your final grade. 4 exams which are 70% of our final grade, and a final that is 25% of our final grade. Our class has 90 students (no bragging but our class is one of the smartest so far in a while in their program).

I do like the disease processes this semester, but psych, OB, and peds have to be my favorite of all time.

All and all can't complain.

I just want to graduate and start my career already!! I really hope my classmates will overcome this evil semester and graduate along side with one another.

pS. I have seen your posts since we were in pre-requisites classes. And have been seeing your posts around this forum too, it's nice to see someone walking through the same road as me.

Good luck to all of us!

Thank you, We didn't lose anyone this semester so hopefully your class is the same way. It's been a great journey over all. I really liked my program, I have minimal complaints, I had a good time, I will miss some of the people in my class and be glad to never see some of them again. lol.

Anyway, best of luck to you and your class and finishing up your journey as well!!!
