I think I'm starting to think and talk like a nurse. I was talking to my mom about someone we know and their health problems and my first thought was, "Wow, he's at risk for . . . " and filled in a nursing diagnosis :) .
My four-year-old wasn't quite sure what I meant when I asked for her rationale for some not-quite-appropriate behavior, though :chuckle.
Maybe some of this reading is starting to sink in .

Have orientation at 0800 this morning 60 miles away and it's 3:30 am. What am i doing up LOL. We start our second year of a 2 year ADN program this morning. I can remember this time last year when we didnt have a clue. We are still clueless in some areas but not as many. Clinicals and care plans were a starnge animal first semester, and second they got more demanding. But by the end of second semester, we started to see a much bigger picture during clinicals. The rational behind a disease process and current tx became much clearer. What certain lab values meant, what certain meds effected other meds, things that as a nurse we needed to be aware of, and the critcal thinking involved. Here's hoping the next semester clears the muddy water even more. Enjoy the ride because there isn't another one like it in world.

Isn't it great! I realised it was sinking in when I used critical thinking and ADPIE to figure out how to clean the fishtank! :)
