Who's an LPN going after their ADN?

I'm so excited that I'm starting in August. I'll be attending Pensacola Junior College. I was going to go back immediately after LPN school...but, you know how things go.

Specializes in ER (My favorite), NICU, Hospice.

E.R.....that's what I do now and I wouldn't change fields for nothing. You will truly love it. It is never the same(well almost never). After I have children I would like to do NICU PRN. I think i'll retire from E.R.

Michelle

I gotcha. I was thinking you meant that the actual nursing classes were 3 years.

I almost have all the pre-reqs that I need for my BSN (I'm about 3-4 shy) and would love to go that route. Unfortunately, I don't have the time for it now. It's only a year for my ADN (as you know). My family depends on me to make the good income.

I'm just ready to be an RN. I want to get into either emergency medicine or operating room, something that I haven't done. I don't have many opportunities to do that now. I'm kind of bored with just passing pills....don't get me wrong I love my clients (I work with the mentally retarded). I just want to do something different and learn. Know what I mean?

What field are you interested in?

Specializes in Geriatrics, DD, Peri-op.

mhull, that's why I want to do it. I imagine you learn so much! Don't want to do NICU though. Can't handle babies all day long (though I need to remember that I will handle some in the ER).

rnmi2004, I was going to attend a school like that in Iowa once. After the first year you could sit for LPN boards. I think they just need to do that everywhere. Then, maybe some of us that really want to be an RN will actually carry it through sooner. That sounds nice.

I would like to go into the operating room too. I want to DO something instead of being 70 yrs old when I retire having to show a lifetime of pushing a med cart up and down a hallway and referee-ing arguementative CNA's. (Sorry ~a bit of job disatisfaction coming through!)

I understand completely. I've recently been feeling that way. That's why I like nursing...it's flexible and if I get tired of a particular field, I can always move on to something else.

Julie do you go to a Christian school? I saw on another thread that you are taking a New Testament class. I would love to take some classes like that.

Pensacola Christian College (here in town) has a 98%+ NCLEX passing rate. WOW!

No. Went to a regular ol' high school in a VERY small central Ohio town.

I have always been a believer in Christ, and although I am having some difficulties with my faith (not in Christ, in people) I am hoping that studying the New Testament will bring back some of the long forgotten knowledge and hopefully some of the yearning I had long ago.

I didn't even know the class was going to be offered this semester, until I decided to drop my Spanish class and take another Cultural Diversity course. I found the New Testament one, and thought it looked perfect!

Wish me luck in my journey...not only my nursing career, but more importantly, my journey to get back to Christ where I belong! :)

I meant, I thought you might be attending a Christian College. But, now that I think about it...my secular college offers a New testament class, I think.

You got a PM coming your way.
