Hi everyone! I graduated last 2012 from a nursing school in Philippines. I had my transcripts reviewed by BRN-Ca and they said that I need to take MS 2 and OB... I am now looking for schools, most of the accredited schools in the BRN webpage says that they dont accept students like me... Please help me!!!

hi MORasks! we have the same deficiency, MS2 and OB. did u find any schools yet?

You guys might consider getting out of CA-- more opportunities for work, too.

Agreed. With how impacted programs are here, they don't need to take students in your situation, because they have SO MANY more students clamoring to take the whole program.

hi jenn28! I had applied to BVNPT and they approved my application so I will be taking PN exam Oct. hopefully I pass. Also, A school has opened an opportunity for MS2. They want me to take a 1 month class If I pass this class I will be able to take MS2 and then when an OB spot opens they will give it. I am not sure to when they would have that spot for me but takign MS2 is stepping forward so I only need to take one more subject. :cat:

Hi GrnTea and RunBabyRN ,

I have considered to look for schools outside the state that are still accredited by california state but it is just hard. I didn't know where to start. I will take my luck to take NCLEX-PN while I try to pass MS2 and wait for an OB class to open.

There are a couple of post here that claimed approved schools here are enrolling foreign grads for the deficiencies. I think GCU, Unitek College and a couple of others I can't remember.

Yes, I am on a lot of school's waiting list, one of the best responder is Dominican Unversity- they have a program to take deficient class students every summer but the waiting list is long that I will be able to take this classes summer of 2016. Other schools are waiting list according to vacancy. If there is an opening(if a student dropped or failed pre-req) they will call you. Unitek College is crazy expensive.

I am going to UNITEK this september. They called me 2nd week of august and it is gonna be expensive I know but I have to finish. The thing is, I need to pass a class called RNSG200(transition class) for 3 weeks(which costs 3k). After this I will take MS2 for 17 weeks. "if" there will be an opening for OB, I wont be on a 200 waiting list, instead, i will be on a list of 10 because I finished their transition class. I am keeping my spot on the waiting list of other schools in case an OB opening comes up and I can take it less expensive. I am hoping, atleast, to finish this classes within a year.

You finished your nursing education albeit in a foreign land, but I still think passing that transition class would be no problem for you. If you survived nursing school, you can survive any transition class.

Thanks you so much13grad17. I will keep a positive look towards this ;-)

Hi my brother also registered for the BVNPT but BON is saying that he has to register for the LVN one. He's confused because he does not want to go to the LVN route. He also graduated in the Philippines but did not intend to register for RN to CA-BON as we had already known the issues before hand. Anyways if he calls they direct him to the same person he spoke to before. It's like they put a note on his application that it should be forwarded to the person he previously talked to. Now they said that if he has to register for LVN and pay again. It's just unfair......

For me I opted to register for Texas and will be taking my NCLEX next month since there's this concurrency issues.
