Longest summer... Ever!

Does anyone else feel this way? I'm starting nursing school in the fall and I'm so excited! The thing is... All this excitement is making my summer creep by. Summer has barely started and it seems like its been forever. I really think this is going to be the longest summer of my life. Anyone else feel like this? I figured I'd start the topic, hoping to find others, so we can entertain each other while summer creeps along haha.

I was accepted into a nursing program for the fall. It's only been two weeks of summer vacation and I've already started reading nursing books, bought my textbooks from Amazon today, so ready to jump in and start. However...I went to the library with my son today and picked up a "fun" read. I read the back of the book, read the first page, and couldn't wait to start it. I am half way through the book. There is not one anatomy mention, not one math problem, and it's delightful to sit back, relax, and read. I'm not going to lie, it felt deliciously sinful.

Tomorrow, however, I will go back to reading the textbooks. In the evening, I will have my little secret affair with the fun book. I have to confess, I got two enjoyable books. I think it's only fair to say that I have a bachelor's in English. Oh! But the enjoyment of reading a book! I swear I'm going to go hard core and get the Scarlet Letter, re-read Memoirs of a Geisha, and perhaps, dare I say it, read a harlequin romance novel. OH THE HORROR!

Enjoy your summer. Take every advantage you can to do whatever it is you want because in a few short months, you'll be begging the heavens for just 15 minutes of time to yourself.

I just graduated my ADN program (May 17th) and I am 100% enjoying my time! I haven't had 'me' time or the time to do whatever I wanted without worrying about doing homework/paperwork/studying for school.

If you are truely bored, break out your A&P book and start reviewing, if you have your required books for class, take a look through them and get a head start, but like I said, ENJOY your summer, don't wish it away. (and technically summer hasn't even begun yet ;)

I have to agree with the others, enjoy your summer! I just finished my first of two years of my ADN program and so grateful for this time to spend with family and friends! I know my classmates who took summer classes were regretting not having the breaks.

When I originally posted this, nursing school felt like a lifetime away. I'm now less than 3 weeks from starting with orientation in a week. I enjoyed my free time taking two short vacations and scouring the web for tips, stories, reviews, help, etc. for nursing school. I hope you all enjoyed your summer as well, it's almost over!!!

So sad my summer break is about to enter it's last 2 weeks. We have summer and winter off for my college's ADN program, 10 weeks each :D. Just barely started reading to get that head start but I'm so lazyyyyyy

Congratulations to all those who have been accepted into nursing school, and to all those who have graduated!

I have orientation this coming Wednesday (August 14th), and start classes the Monday after next (August 19th)!! I agree with you all, time has literally felt as if it has been slowly creeping along this ENTIRE Summer... up until these last couple of weeks! So nervous and excited to start my ADN program!

Best of luck to you all on your journey to becoming nurses! :)

I was just thinking the same thing, that summer was feeling extra long this year. Now all of a sudden classes start in 3 weeks!!!
