(Seriously, is there any chance of me getting an honorary "Biter Crusty Old Bats Club" membership even though I'm still a student nurse? We'd better be careful, or we'll get this thread shut down like the old C.O.B. thread was! (Oh, I had sooooo many laughs reading that thread, and I was so heartbroken to see it get shut down!) - Jun 8, '12 by celtchick68Sounds sketchy to me. There has to be more. My school requires transcripts to be approved prior to being accepted to the program. There is also a list of every course requirement from pre reqs to co-reqs. The advisor goes over your schedule and it's known each semester what you have to take to fulfill the program requirements.
The math issue? We all had to pass a test to be accepted, either having to take the required math classes or testing out of them. With my school we had a dosage test at the beginning of each semester. 90 was required to pass. Period. No retakes, no sob stories. In my opinion the dosage math is extremely easy if you pay attention to what's being asked.
People don't just quit with 4 weeks remaining without some other motivation to quit. With all the other exceptions and excuses it sounds like your luck just ran out. Sorry if that's harsh of rude but we all have circumstances that arise in school and the majority of us put on our big person underpants and deal.Learnlesson likes this. - Jun 8, '12 by Nurse2bKimberlyOur school gave us 3 chances on our dosage calculation exam too :uhoh21: And we only need to make a 90% as well.
- Jun 8, '12 by ColleenRN2BWe had 3 math exams for every clinical. Six clinical rotations=18 math exams.

As for me, yes, I am so mired in reality that even my husband calls me the Dream Killer - a label I wear with pride. I'm sure I will be a BCOB within 10 years of finishing. But you don't want to stomp on my DREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMM do you????

You have three chances to make it. Everyone usually passes by the second try.90% on a med math test? Really? In my program it was 100%, no exceptions.....
- Jun 9, '12 by BostonFNPFor the life of me I can't understand why people think its acceptable to get anything less than a 100 on med calc tests. 100% and one try; if I get sick and end up in the hospital I really don't want to think about the fact the nurse caring for me did basic med math wrong 10% of the time.
For the people that disagree: would you let me do a bone marrow biopsy on you if I missed 10% of the time?
