Last Day Of Nursing School

Hi All,

This day felt like it would never come!!! We were all scared to death about our "Final" Final Exam today. It's frightening to think that several years of school boiled down to this one last test that could literally make or break us - it was truly the hardest test I've ever taken. Luckily they post our grades a few hours after the exam to put us out of our misery. :uhoh3:

I'm worried about some of my classmates who were borderline - the exam could have killed their chances of graduating and that would be devastating after all we've gone through to get to this point.

I thought I'd be thrilled, excited, doing cart-wheels that it's finally over and I made it through with a good grade, but I've been studying so much lately, not getting any sleep and just feel stunned and numb. I think I have "Post Traumatic Stress Disorder", hee, hee.... :lol2:

I've waited 20 years for this - so I'm really looking forward to a whole new part of my life working as a Nurse and caring for many patients along the way. I was really fortunate to get into a New Grad Nurse Fellows Program at a hospital where they transition you into the job instead of just expecting you to hit the floor running on day one. They seem to really care about their employees, so hopefully it'll be a great place to work.

I Wish You All the Very Best of Luck in Your New Careers - Way To Go - Class of 2006!!!! :biggringi - Sue

congratulations!!! i hope to be in your position in exactly 3 years! good luck in your new job.

Congratulations, what a great accomplishment!

Specializes in ER.

I know what you mean...my brain is wound up so tight from the crunch of the last few weeks ( I mean last four years:lol2: ) that it is difficult to feel any sense of relief.

Some classmates and I were talking about how surreal it is. Maybe when we walk across that stage in a few days it will actually sink in that we are DONE!

Hopefully, in a week or so we'll start to decompress, and your "post-traumatic stress" syndrome will start to diminish:chuckle I know whenever we had breaks it would take me pretty much the whole break to relax and shift out of school mode.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!:balloons: :mortarboard: :balloons:

Good for you, SusanNC!

I graduate next week myself. There is a mix of emotions right now---ranging from a state of shock and disbelief to anxiety about the future to excitement and pride. Try to live in the moment and reflect on your accomplishments. Hope your new job works out great for you.

Specializes in Operating Room.

Congratulations to all the graduates! :balloons:

I finished up last Friday in my preceptorship, so I am soooo done with school. Pinning is next week.

Congrats!!!!I took my final yesterday. My whole class graduates which is great. I have to say though I am glad it is finally over. there were times i just wanted to give up and am very happy i didn't. but a part of me is sad to. we just spent 2 very intense years (or 4) with the same people day in and day out and now its over. i am almost 30 years old and i have to say that the best friends i have ever made was in nursing school. i think we all have to remeber how we feel tight now because its gonna be our turn to be the staff nurse. never forget the mean nurses you have encountered and how you swore you would never be like them. good luck to everyone! we did it!!!!
