I live in NC and just graduated from an ADN program. I took the state boards Friday. When I finished my 75 question exam, I just knew that I had failed the thing. Then some of my friends said that 75 questions only meant you passed. I think it is impossible to predict whether or not you passed the thing just from the number of questions. It will still be a while before I know if I passed. I'm open for words of encouragement or suggestions on how to keep from going insane during this time. <br />
Thanks for any words o...email@example.com

Take a nice deep breath! Chances are that you did just fine- although 75 questions doesn't mean anything definite, I haven't heard of anyone stopping at 75 and failing. Did you know that you can call the board after 72 hours (probably not counting the weekend) and ask if a license has been issued in your name? Just relax and be glad you're finally done! I don't know how to help you from pulling out your hair though until you know for sure- I'm sure I'll be doing the same next month when I take mine. Good luck to you.

If it's any comfort, I felt the same way when I took my boards. I had no idea if I passed or not! And 90% of my classmates felt the same fear (we all passed). Odds are good that you did pass, but you'll just have to keep yourself busy until you hear. Try not to obsess too much. I know, it's hard not to! LOL. I'm Crossing my fingers for you! :-)

I haven't graduated yet, but my sister did 2 yrs ago. And she was convinced that she did not pass, I mean she really really felt she failed. To make a long story short she passed. Everyone I have talked to thought they did not pass.

Thanks for responding to my note. I wasn't sure how to answer you all, so I thought I'd post a reply here. Well, it's 5:45 p.m. and still no word. Our instructors really spoiled us by posting grades 1-2 days after each test. Unfortunately, the community college that I attended has a horrible pass rate for the boards. I checked the pass/fail statistics at the NC Board of Nursing web site and the past 3 years have been in the 70% range. It's really awful. Everyone that I know that has taken the boards have felt like they failed, too. I'd really like to know how they do the grading. Anyway, I'm on my way to Busch Gardens in Virginia tomorrow and hopefully I'll be pre-occupied having fun until Saturday. You know, I've been reading some of your posts. I think this would have been a great site to visit while I was in school. If I can ever help anybody answer something, email me. Hugs, Kittykash

I really feel for you! I am taking my boards next month and absolutely do not feel ready!I don't know if it will help you any, but my states Board Of Health website had my temporary license number there before I received it in the mail. Maybe you can check your Board Of Health website and check. In the meantime. I wish you all the luck!

Relax. I'm sure you did fine. I'm nowhere close to sitting for my boards
but I'm sure I'll be a nervous wreck too. I read somewhere that 85% of people who take the nclex pass on the first time. Its just an anxiety creating process.... so be good to yourself and have fun.
