I just called today to schedule my physical for Dec. 18. I know this is going to sound horrible, but it has been so long since I had a physical!!! What do they do? Just check the basics??? I guess I'm just a little nervous I may get a bad physical!!! LOL

Immunizations...round 1 is Thursday!

Bahahahaa,

I have to laugh because this was me too, I hadn't had a physical since my twins were born nearly 9 years ago. They were quite shocked and because I was there they did the works. When she asked what the physical was for, I said I was kind of embarrassed to admit I was going to be a nurse. Well you know the old saying, nurses and doctors don't make good patients LOL.

name: erin

orientation date: january

start date: january 14

school attending: ivy tech, indiana

degree seeking: associates, rn

school history: graduated high school in '06, got accepted into nursing school on my first try two years later - now starting my clinicals in january '08!

personal info: not married, no children! only 20 years old - i cried my eyes out when i got my acceptance letter. i am so excited and honored to begin nursing school. at the same time i am struggling with self-doubt and scared because of my age (i don't know very many 20 year olds going for their rn) and i am scared people won't take me seriously.

anything else you want to share: i take things maybe a little too seriously, especially for my age. i do not smoke or drink. i am 'book smart' - hoping i can be nursing smart as well. i do love to laugh though and love meeting new people and enjoy living life... my whole world consists of my family and friends and boyfriend of 2 years.

how are you preparing?: pre-reqs all done. immunizations done. cpr done. scrubs bought. ordering a littmann. other than that, being excited and nervous and wishing i could find someone to relate with to talk to! i have no "nursing buddies" and i really wish that i did! all the girls i met in nursing school did not get accepted with me. i am hoping that the older, married women will take me under their wing and see how serious i am about this career and how badly i want to succeed!

Erin, what campus are you at? I'm at Ivy Tech Bloomington. We have the same orientation date. Maybe we could compare experiences?
