Is the NET (nursing entrance test) hard?

Hello everyone,

I am preparing to enter vocational school to become an LPN.

I am scheduled to take the NET (nursing entrance test) next week.

I have no idea what is on the test; only that I am allowed three chances to pass it.

Background: I have a bachelors degree in English and many years of professional experience in non-medical fields....

Can anyone give me a hint as to the nature of the test? Is it about nursing vocabulary or situations? Or is it a general test that determines whether you have basic reading and math skills?

Thanks!

simpleone, I took the "PAX" nursing entrance exam, and I'm not sure if thats the same as this one, or if its a different test. Ours had math, english and science at around a college level (maybe sr high school). I thought it was very hard, and I studied my butt off for a few weeks prior to taking it. Ours weighed science very heavily and we were told that if two people got the same score and they could only take one of them, they would take the one w/ the higher science score...

All that being said, we needed an 80 on it to pass, and I got a 99.

As far as the test I took, the math was pretty easy, everything else too, but the reading comprehension was kinda hard...I passed it thou...

I tried the Kaplan stuff from a friend from last year, but then I found pass the net set of tutorials at mynursingedu.com which was way better, I just got an email from that site saying that now they have a book with lots of test questions, all freshly updated so you might want to check it out.

With a bachelors degree in English, you should not have any problems. Most people are more concerned with the reading and writing sections because the time alloted is short and if you are not a fast reader or don't have the ability to comprehend fast, then you may be working against time. The maths is basically lower than GED or at about the same level. But watch out for the science section. For your information,I took mine just last week. The science consisted of only human physiology (no anatomy) with questions ranging from acid-base balance to the the physiology of the heart. Also some few questions from the physiology of the lungs, symptoms of asthma and some other questions you hardly find in any textbook.Don't panic or waste time unnecessarily. It is a speed test so ensure that all questions are answered either correctly or otherwise. GOOD LUCK.

Hi everyone,

I am preparing to take the NAT exam and this is my second chance. I am trying to use the old post I found from Csantos on the studyguide he posted, however, there isn't anything on the science portion. Does anyone know where I can find free practice tests for this?

Thank you in advance!

Since all of you are nurses, could you please give me some advice. I want to be a Pediatrics Nurse Practitioner, I am currently working on my bachelor of science of nursing. From my bachelors of science in Nursing where do i go to? to a graduate school right? I apply to a masters program? :) If you could please help me, I would really appreciated Thank-You!

@kimmy03--your advice is very helpful. I am taking my net soon for the fist time and I'm FREAKED out! To be honest i am horrible with even general math! Me and numbers just done mix! If you asked me to refinish a piece of furniture and decorate an entire house...that i could do!
