IPod and lecture question

Hey,

I just got an IPod classic for Christmas and am looking forward to using it for all kinds of stuff. I was wondering though - how do you get your recorded lectures onto your IPod? I have a digital recorder and just haven't used it that much, but since I start nursing school tommorrow, I think it will be a good thing to use. I want to be able to listen to my lectures while I work out.

Does your digital recorder have a USB out? If so, connect it to your computer and grab the file off it (could be mp3, wav, or ogg format depending on the brand and model) just like you're taking something off a USB thumb drive. Then simply import that file to itunes.

The directions that came with the digital recorder should explain how to do this step-by-step. And if you lost those, refer to the website of the manufacturer of your recorder.

I have the little recorder that plugs into the headphone hole. It records directly to my ipod, then itunes automatically shunts it off the ipod and into itunes. Then you have it in both spots and can listen away or on your computer. It should be that easy. In fact, you should be able to listen to it immediately after recording it, if you have a similar device. It's white, I can't remember the name (or where I put it, eep).

I used to have one for my 4G iPod. I think it was called iTalk by Griffin which let's you record directly into the iPod. Used it during my Anatomy days and it was handy.

There should be something similar in the market today. I'm not sure if Griffin still makes the iTalk but there are other manufacturers like Belkin, etc.

Thanks, I will look into the recorder. I tried to put the lectures from my recorder on the IPod and failed miserably. My sister is good at stuff like that and she couldn't figure it out either. I got busy with school this week, though, and haven't looked at it again. I will have to keep trying or get the recorder for the IPod.

I know you got your iPod as a gift, but is there a way you can exchange that with a 2nd gen iPod Touch?
I posted this on another thread where there is this app that you can download from the App Store for free called iTalk Recorder (yes, it's from the same company that makes the peripheral with the same name). It lets you record audio on your iPhone 3G or 2G iPod Touch and you can listen to your recordings right away.

I have a 3rd gen Ipod Nano & an olympus digital recorder. What I do is convert the wave files to .m4a via SWITCH (free online converter program) & drop them into my folder in itunes/ipod. That can be an option is you have separate technology.

If you have an Apple store near you, maybe stop in & have a customer service "genius" help you get set up.
