Hi i am mary, i'm a "new" but "old" student bc i'm 51 years old. I have three grown children. One is married, my daughter is in medical school and my youngest is studying to be a pharmacist. I've been a medical assistant to a pediatrician for 15 years and have decided to obtain my RN. I have to admit i'm a little nervous about starting out at my age. Start my RN classes and clinicals this coming Tuesday.

    Good luck to everyone!

    Hi Mary,
I'm Nancy, and have just moved to Baltimore to attend the BS program at Johns Hopkins School of Nursing. I'm 49. It took me 2 years to complete prerequisites, one science at a time mixed with other GEd classes. It's definitely harder at our age but I believe it's far more rewarding than it would have ever been in our 20s. I don't start the program till next Sept (05) unless by a miracle a spot opens for this Sept. I moved now to begin making connections and also to get on with making a life, knowing I can be in one place now for a long time. I've never been married, and have no children. Sometimes I wish I'd had children but it's just the way things turned out.
Congradulations to you on starting RN classes.

    Nancy

    Hello all!

I'm Carrie and I just finished the 2nd week of my first year in RN school. First test is Tuesday! I'm already feelin' the pressure but I think I'm gonna make it. I really want this so that's gotta help right?! Props to you women out there who are doin' it with children and husbands and such. Just having my boyfriend and my dog around stress me out. I think I need some stress management/coping skill advice. Anyone care to share words of wisdom or helpful advice???
