I guess I'm a new, sort of old student. In my first life I was an English major and grad student (saved myself from the PhD by the skin of my teeth), but found the siren song of healthcare irresistable. Now I'm an ETP student in Boston, happily trading the crap I dealt in English lit for the crap I deal with on med/surg...at least the med/surg kind eventually flushes!

PS: confession time. I moved to Boston from NYC, and I, uh, am not exactly a Sox fan...:uhoh21:

    Hi y'all,

My name is Michele and I am married with two beautiful daughters, 14 and 11. I have been a Medical Assistant for 14 years and now I am in my first semester of the ADN program. My goal is to go on and get may BSN so I can go into Public Health. I work part-time at our community clinic while I am in school so I get more exposure to clinicals than I did when I worked in M.D.'s office. (speciality) I am sooooo loving the program. It takes a lot of time and effort but it will be well worth it. I am looking forward to picking people's brains while chatting with you all. This site is great!

    Talk to y'all soon!:typing

    Hello everyone,
I am a new student starting the pre-reqs and hope to become and RN. Just decided after 8 yrs of cutting hair that it is time to try the other profession I've always been interested in. I am so nervous and excited to be starting this new journey. Some people have children... I have a husband, three cats and a dog. That is my big happy supportive family. I am glad to see there are so many of us going through the whole experience together.

Hi there, my name is Sarah, I have 3 kids, 6, 4, and 2. We breed shelties and raise chickens and pigs. Looking forward to spring and starting the garden. I am currently finishing my pre-reqs and am on the waiting list for the nursing program. I am a little annoyed, I just wanted to get going on this fall but looks like I will have to apply again. I really enjoy reading these threads and wish I had the time to reply to all of them! Talk to you soon

    Hi All,
I am very new here. I am 34 and a mother of 3 (boy 10, girl 7, and girl 4). I am starting my first semester of 5 on June 5, 2006 in an ADN program. I am so excited. I have always wanted to be a nurse. I have worked for the past 10 years in a University school of veterinary medicine as a lab manager. Being around all those young students made me want to pursue my "real" career. I can't wait. I know that it is going to be hard but I'm truly up for the challenge.

Hi, I am Kim. I am 31, with 3 boys (6,5,3) and a husband. No offense to the guys out there but he is often more work than the kids-LOL!

I am half way through the BSN program. I plan to graduate in May 2008. I spent many years being a jack of all trades and master of none. I have always wanted to become a nurse and am glad I finally took the steps to become one. It is nice to see there are many others like me-trying to survive nursing school and raise a family.

Good Luck to all of you!
