Hi All! I'm Steph and I have been attending a CC part time since 2001 and finished my prereq. last spring when I got my acceptance letter for the RN prgram.
I am begining a 2 year program (fundamentals) the end of this month and feel very nervous, excited, scared etc.
Life outside of school: I'm 27, worked for 5 years after high school as a CNA before becoming a stay at home mom to my now 7 year old girl and 3 year old boy.
I look forward to getting to know you guys! What a great place

Hi! I'm Kayla Caldwell, 20 (will be 21 on August 24(8 days!!!)), married, no kids...... I am so happy school is starting back. I start nursing school(ADN) Wednesday, August 17. I am so SICK of summer.....but, I'm terrified of Nursing School. Mine is only a 4 semester program.....I bought some of my books today. They didn't even have the Nursing Fundamentals book out yet!!!! How crazy is that!!!! They have me stressing!!! Well, Let me know how ya'lls first days went....I'll tell you about mine....that is, if I get a break.

Oh Yeah, If any one has any suggestions on time management, i would love to hear them. I think that is going to be my biggest problem. I am not good at managing my time...especially not between school, my husband, and my job!!!!!!!! Thank goodness I don't have kids, huh??

Hi. My name is Laura and I am 29 and in my second year of nursing school (senior year all together), and I graduate with my BSN this May of 2006 and I cannot wait! I just got married on July 23rd and vacationed in Aruba on our honeymoon, which was absolutely perfect! I am so bummed to have to return, but am excited to start school and finally have a career. I am currently a nurse partner with a local hospital here and work in high risk L&D, which is the only one in the state. We see everything, so it is very fast paced and exciting!

Neither my DH nor I have children and DH is a pilot in the AF stationed here in OK. I guess that is all the good news about us. So nice to meet everyone!

    Hi,

My name is Wendy. I am 35, married, mother of 1 boy (8). I live in Miami. I work fulltime at a university that has an awesome nursing school. However, I do not attend that program.

Instead, I am paying my own way through a part-time ASN program at MDC (the local college). I will be graduating in May 2007. I am currently in my first med-surg semester.

I am very happy I found this place.

Hi! My name is Charleanne and I was recently accepted into a two-year ADN program that begins Sept. 2005. I have been peaking at this site for some time now and I am excited to finally post a message here. :wink2: Recently, I attended the orientation for my program and I can see that I have quite a challenge ahead of me.

Aside from being a nursing student, I am a single mother of two children ages 4 and 10. Other than the CNA class I took a year ago, I have no official healthcare experience. My last job was in the garden dept. of a Home and Garden business, so I expect that my life is about to change quite a bit! I hope to eventually work in Labor and Delivery or in the NICU and I have some volunteer background working with new parents.

I look forward to meeting other students who are starting their programs this year and I am particularly interested in hearing from students who entered nursing school without prior CNA work. How did this lack of experience affect your first term in the program?

Hi Charleanne and welcome to Allnurses. I'm a senior nursing student (age 52!) and started nursing school 2 years ago and had no prior clinical experience. My previous life I was an administrative assistant (glorified name for a secretary, really) but I did work for the head of the pharmacology department at the uni so I was pretty familiar with the terminology and such. So I'm sure you will do just fine. Good luck to you.

    Hello all!
I am a 35 year old wife and mother of 3 children (ages 13, 9, and 3). I am in my 2nd year of a 2 year RN program at a local Technical college. I am on summer break now, but go back in 3 weeks. I have been trying to relax and enjoy my time off, because from what I have heard, 2nd year is a terrible year. I am scared to death and just want it to be over!! I am to graduate June 2006, the good Lord willing.

It's been tough with 3 children, a husband, working part time, and taking care of a house. My husband is on 2nd shift, so that is tough as well in the evenings.

The first year went really fast, though tough. I just hope this next year goes just as smoothly.

I hope to get to know you all and get some good advice and encouragement.

    Thanks,
    2ndyrnursestudent
