Hi all, yesterday my instructor did something very interesting and wanted to know if anyone in their geriatrics semester experienced something like this. It is not a complaint mind you, but wondering if this was just a case of it being my instructor, and this particular college. Yesterday after we returned from our break, we entered the classroom and there were candles lined up all along the chalkboard ledge glowing. There was also a Coleman lantern on the podium also. When roll was called by a different instructor we knew something was strange. After roll call, in came my instructor wheeling in a gurney with a wrapped/shrouded head to toe dummy with toe tag attached. We are currently studying the death/dying and bereavement segment. The usually noisy class was silenced. All the lights were off except for the glow of the candles. My instructor introduced herself as the nurse who was providing patient care for Mr. Doe at end stage of life with her lantern glowing on her face as she read the prepared dialog. It was riviting. The effect was powerful. What she was saying and describing coroborated with all our reading material in a "visual" way. Really would like to know if any other students have had an experience like this in geriatrics class. :saint:

I can't say that I had an experience like this, but it is nice to know that there are instructors out there that take the time to prepare and act out a lecture to break up the routine. Praise to the instructors.

When we had psych lectures, our instructors came in dressed funny and the whole cecture was held by a "bipolar" nurse. Of course she was just acting, but it was so much fun, it made us remember everything easier.

My Psych instructor did the exact same thing, I'll never forget it! We learn from our experiences, I wish I had the experience the OP had.
