I Hate Scrub Pants!!!

Okay, I don't really hate them, but they sure don't like me! I have tried on every pair of white scrub pants at Wal-Mart and our nursing supply store, and they all are the same: the mediums are too small, and the larges fit my waist but look like hammer-pants on my legs, and are WAAAY too long!! I was so frustrated at the nursing supply store yesterday, and on my way out, the people working there finally decided to acknowledge my presense (like the annoyed woman pushing a double stroller w/ two cranky kids could have snuck by them!), and I told them how much trouble I was having. They looked at each other and said, in unison, "Aw, an in-betweener!!" Like I'm a novelty or something. I wanted to strangle them both w/ their size XS scrubs!!! I just said sarcastically, "I guess I'll be back after I lose 20 pounds." Does anyone else have a hard time finding scrub bottoms that fit? I have tried Dickies, Peaches, and whatever they have a Wal-Mart. We have to have a pair that fit by Sept. 12, and I don't think its gonna happen!!

I wear Walmart pants for work, but they don't fit well. They're way too long on me, so I roll them up at the waist. But I can't go any smaller because I'm one of those really skinny people. :chair:

Luckily my scrub pants for clinical are Dickies and they fit PERFECTLY. My school said they should be preshrunk so they won't shrink but I'm paranoid so I will probably wash them on cold and either hang dry or dry on low heat to keep them as perfect as possible.

Well, I went out of town today, to a bigger uniform store, and still no luck with a pair that fits very well. I think I'm going to just go w/ the big ones, and if my teacher has a problem w/ them, I'll go get them altered. Hopefully that will be after my loan comes!! The good news about my trip was I found a pair of white New Balance 575 shoes that fit soooo well. I even got an employee discount, so they were only $40 instead of $60!! They are completely white except for a small breast cancer awareness symbol on the top of the tongue. At least I have that taken care of!!

I'd recommend Cherokee brand as well. I have yet to find a scrub pant that fits and looks as good as these do. I think it is the boxer style, but I'm not sure. They are the ones with the thick waistband with the little rectangle patch of fabric right in the center of the waistband.

Yep!! I wore those in petite all thru NS. They came to my waist, not under my bust, and the length was perfect!! You can find them online if local stores don't carry them (I've found stores usually don't have a huge selection of petites)

I've also been really happy with my Crest scrub pants in ceil blue for work.

XS is usually okay in the waist but WAY too short.. but then I found Urbane Scrubs... XS is a little big in the waist, but hey I'll just wear them as hip huggers.. but they are plenty long. They're amazing. Urbanescrubs.com

My favorite scrub pants are Studio by Cherokee (I think that's their name...). They have a zipper and a tie waist and I LOVE the boot cut legs. I'm short (5'0") and the petite pants fall at the exact right spot for me. Normally I have to chop off several inches and hem pants but these are just perfect. I'm somewhat in between too, but I'm more in between the large and extra large. ;) The girls at our local shops are all in the XS size too...isn't that annoying? The first time I went scrub shopping, there was a girl complaining about how the XS were too small. UGH!

I found the Cherokee scrubs online at allheart.com for the best price, but they are slow to ship.

just a little cheter trick I want to share:

if anyone is a non sewing person but needs to hem pants on a budget, you can get iron on hem tape - just cut the pant off at right length plus about an inch, then fold under and press with the hem tape inside and voila! it looks neater than cuffing and costs very little.

Thanks for all your tips, guys! When I get my loan checks, I will definetly be trying some of those brands out, even if I have to mail-order them. I broke down and bought the only pair of large petites wal-mart had, they are semi-comfortable at least, even if I do look like a backup dancer for MC Hammer!! I think I'm really just frustrated cuz at the begining of the summer I had lost almost 30 pounds, and I quit exercising, so I'm gaining some of it back. Sigh, I guess its back to the Gazelle for me!!!

I went to the allheart.com site to see the pants you described...I found the Studio Cherokee pants, there were two very similar ones (one with zipper one without) but they were low-rise. Are yours? Do you find that comfortable? I'm also short (5'2"), medium sized, and I've got a long torso, short legs (ain't I a sight, LOL) and low-rise always makes me want to yank them UP. Still, I'm always interested in pants I might not have to chop off and hem the hell out of!!

I can think of better things to spend that loan money on-like groceries and gas.If I were you I'd get the larger pants and if the instructor has a problem I'd go straight to the head of the program and find out if she thought the pants were appropriate...Not the best advice-I am not suggesting you do it...Not good to pizz off an instructor at the beginning of the program but sheesh....What a nutcase...

I tried on so many bad-looking scrub pants I thought I must be a freak of nature or something, because they all looked bad on me but everyone else seems to look ok in them. I finally found the Dickies Hip Flips and they were perfect and cute. I bought 5 pairs. They run big, fyi. A lot of girls at work seem to wear them.
