I go to ITT-Tech...

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

So I am in the 3rd week of my second quarter at ITT-Tech in Phoenix. I am not going to lie, the first quarter nursing class is very boring and dry, but it is picking up a bit in this quarter. In our first quarter (11 weeks) we basically learned the history of nursing, the nursing process, and a brief intro to nursing diagnosis.

In the second quarter we have began doing labs. So far we have done mostly CNA stuff, which is fine.

I am basically just curious if this sounds somewhat similar to other schools. We only go 1 day a week (for nursing), for 4 hours. (we also have other classes like math, anatomy and physiolgy ect ect for a total of 3 classes a quarter, so 3 days a week in all)

I am also more then happy to answer any questions you have about the school.

PS. Just so you know, I am enjoying the program, I am just curious how other schools do things.

Thanks in advance!

What did everyone get on the Hesi? I took mine and scored a 86%, how is that ranking among other ITT students?

I'm taking it on the 3rd. The lady told our info session (Portland campus) that the average was around 83, but wasn't entirely sure because they had to reevaluate since they removed the science. Then someone here said with the science removed it was about 86%. At our location they are taking the science out and bumping the needed pass score to 75%.

When and where did you take it? What was it like? How was the math and english sessions? I'm a bit nervous about the math, although I've reviewed the study book and it doesn't seem too hard... it's just been a long time since I've done math!

The math was fairly easy, go to math.com andstudy decimals, fractions and ratios and proportions. Also, know kilograms coverted to pounds, know ounces in a cup, pint and gallon, the roman numerals too. The english and reading is very basic but the vocab is alot of medical stuff. I took it yesterday, took me 3 hrs but feel good about it! Good luck but study what I told you, you will need it for sure

I took the Hesi at ITT Tech in Phoenix 2 weeks ago and scored 87.5 and it took me 122 minutes to complete, not too bad. I am wanted to start the March 2011 class there as I would have to move from San Diego with my family. Just get the study book that they recommend and practice the problem in the back of the book.

Thanks! We're you allowed a pencil and paper to work the math problems?

They give you scratch paper and a pencil but you have a calculator on your computer to use too. Know you conversions from metric to standard and military time, roman numbers all of it, it's all on there. And you do have a time limit. I forget how long it was, I was the first one done in my group so I don't remember how long you have, but there are 4 sections and 55 questions in each section.

Oh man, oh man! I've been practicing the questions in the study guide strictly by hand, because I assumed a calculator wouldn't be available. I've been doing really well, too! This is great news. Thanks for the information. I work in healthcare now, so I know military time and a lot of the conversions already. Are there two math sections and two english/read/grammar type sections? Now that I know I can use a calculator, I'm really excited!

There's only 1 math section with 55 questions, then 3 other sections, one is reading comp, one is vocab, and I can't remember what they call the other section but it is all English. Math is the place that bought my score down a little, I got 100 in some of the sections. Now I am just trying to figure out how I am going to pay for school. It's $53,000 here, but thankfully, I will have several college courses transfer over, however, they won't accept anything over 5 years old, so my Comp I and Comp II won't be accepted but I can take the test and as long as I pass with a C, I don't have to take the couses. So not too worried about that.

I'm looking at taking Stafford loans out, and if I have to get a private loan, I will. There are loan programs through places like Wells Fargo that are for people in nursing programs. I think there may be a federal loan program for nursing too, but can't remember.

I thought ITT Tech was a technological school? I didn't know it had a nursing program.

Ok what do you think Rn's do? Thier work is technical.

Hi,

For those who took or planning on to take the HESI, I wonder if you know if it is ok to bring a calculator w/ you?

Thx

KurdRN, I have been told by two posters so far that it is OK to bring a calculator. One said in an email that someone in their info session asked if calculators were allowed and the person said yes. So, I'm going to bring one just in case. Someone on here said that there is a calculator on the computer too. When are you taking it?
