I feel like no matter what I do or study,

It seems like I always struggle.

I dont even know if nursing is for me anymore even though I REALLY want to be one. It feels like with my scores I am not cut out for it!

Im doing well in all my classes except med-surg which I am barely passing

Need a test average of 74% to pass the class. im standing at a 75% with one more exam and final to go.

Now its going to be a 70% now because I failed both Ati exams twice.

I feel like im mentally challenged.

I failed one class already

Im praying my life to graduate. Anyone feeling similar?

Instead of beating yourself up, please see what resources your school has to help you improve. Grades are not the only thing that make a great nurse.

Here is my advice, get off the pity boat and be proactive.

I would begin my taking a learning style quiz VARK -- A Guide to Learning Styles

You need to understand how you learn and what study measures you can incorporate to meet your goals. For example; I know that I am an auditory/reading learner. I know that making complex diagrams and flow charts is not going to help. Instead I outline my notes and read them before an exam.

Second, meet with your professors. They are there for you, ask to review the exam in private and ask them why you got this question. Talk it out, look at rationales. Is there a certain type of question you are getting wrong

Lastly, join a study group. I don't mean a large one. I study with one person that I trust. We do not have the same learning style which is why it works so well. She is more visual so her and I both pick up on things the other did not. It helps bouncing ideas off one another.

Nursing school is meant to be difficult because in the end you will have to care for someone and make real decisions based on your assessments. Best of Luck!!

I went to nursing school with a student who failed out her first semester. Not because she was stupid or wasn't studying....it was because she was studying wrong. The way she was studying did not work for her. Now, she is 2 semesters away from getting her NP license. You can do it!
