I am applying for RN-BSN program. I am kinda lost...how start writing a career statement/goals/personal statement/essay...........can anybody here help!!!!!!!!! any sample essays/personal statements?????????

i just got into nursing school and start in a few weeks. my school accepts 100 people per term (one class for fall, one class for spring.)

our assignment: applicants should submit a 250-word essay describing life experiences that they believe will foster their success in the nursing profession. experiences could include high school activities, volunteer work, parenting experiences, employment, etc.

(this does not factor into our admission, ours was based only on gpa. they just have us do this so they can get an idea of who is in the new nursing class)

here's what i wrote:

in the fall of 2004, i began training to become an emt, a job that many people only dream of. after 4 months of grueling classes, i became a certified emt-basic and began to run for the university's volunteer squad. the work was exciting and i knew that i was providing a valuable service to the university community. one of my most memorable nights was spent working with a girl in her early twenties who had just attempted suicide. i was able to keep my calm, and i was the only person on the squad that night who was comfortable in dealing with our patient's emotional state. a discussion with my crew chief confirmed that i had handled the situation well, and that i was the only one there who could have handled it. knowing that i made a difference that night has left an imprint on who i am today. that night made all the training and work worth it.

i also volunteer at children's hospital. the experiences i have had in working with patients and their families have opened my eyes to the types of experiences i will have as a nurse. being able to provide a break for an exhausted mother of a chronically ill patient has given me experience in communicating with and supporting patient families. playing with and spending time with the patients has allowed me to understand more about patients' needs and the limitations that certain medical conditions can cause.

let me know if you have other questions!

thank you very much.

Glad I could help out. Did your school give you specific guidelines for your statement?

Not a very specific one. It says, essay with a statement of career goals and expectations..............This is a requirement for admission..not after it. thank you for being concerned.
