How soon you will be drug tested after admission?

I was wondering how fast you can be drug tested at UTA after admission?

Lol this question cracked me up

In my previous career, the Production Manager was interviewing a prospective employee. The PM said, "We have a zero tolerance policy on drugs here."

The applicant replied, "Even pot??"

Still cracks me up.

This is in general:

It could also be a prescription medication that shows up (or could), and the OP is getting pummeled with "addict' and 'drug problem' labels that aren't true (per the OP- and she's all we have to go by). There can be benign reasons for asking.

In looking at this, I know a heads' up would help me, since I don't pee on demand, and some extra fluids would be nice to get in, so I didn't have to wait there all day :)

Any chance folks could just answer the question and not label someone they don't know (and are possibly not qualified to diagnose an addict?) Any addictionologists out there? Dr. Drew- are ya reading this? :)

I was just accepted into my program in September & we were required to have a drug test/background check done (among other things) before a December 1st deadline. Once we start class in January, they said we can also be random drug tested and will probably be asked to take a drug test before switching to different clinical sites.

I would say unless you have a prescription for it, DON'T DO IT! Its hard enough to get into nursing school, so why risk getting kicked out over something like a drug test? That should be the last worry you have!

And I agree with you, except for the manner in which the OP was acting about it. They could have easily asked about what if they're on some kind of medication, need a medication, etc. Or they would ask "how do I tell my school about the meds I take"

Well, I didn't see any acting at all :) Just saw a question in statement form :)

Maybe she didn't care to offer any information, for her own reasons? For someone who has never been in this position, this seems like a straightforward question, without knowing all of the variables TO ask..... jmo :)
