The wonderful thing about nursing is that it is open to everyone of all ages. Please give a cheer to all the people who believe that age is not a factor in learning. And, to all the people who strive for knowledge regardless of age. How old were you when you started nursing school?

19, I took a year off after high school before I started nursing school.

Specializes in LTC, Assisted Living, Surgical Clinic.

Although I started pre-reqs a couple years prior, I finally started actual nursing school at 44 years old.

I was 27 when I started with my ASN and one child, graduated are 30. Had 2 more kids, moved across the country. Then completed my BSN at 38. Then went on and completed my MSN at 42. It is my daughter's turn now. She is graduating HS and applying to nursing schools.

I was 26 yo single mom of 2. I had paychecks bounce, no money to pay my rent. I decided then to pursue my dream of becoming a nurse. Applied, was accepted into ADN program. Graduated when I was 29. Yes, it was hard work, but it has been worth it.

Specializes in Family Practice, Med-Surg.

18. I graduated with my BSN at 22.

I was 52 when I started my LPN program. I have just started my LPN to BSN program and will be 54 in a couple of weeks. I will graduate with my BSN at the age of 56!

I will :::knock on wood::: be just turning 28 when I start an accelerated program, 29 when I finish.

55 during first RN school semester,, finished at 56 and still going strong! ;o)

I started nursing school when I was 49, graduated at 51. I am loving my second career. My first was a stay at home mom.

After a 20+ year career as a professional photographer, I started my pre-reqs for my ASN at the age of 40. I earned my RN license 4 days after my 43rd birthday. I'm now 47 and I just earned a BS degree in Health Informatics. I'm the first person in my family to ever earn a bachelors degree and I'm super proud of my accomplishments. Couldn't have imagined that I'd be where I am today when I was 20 something. Never think you are too old. Never believe you are incapable of achieving success. Never give up on your dreams. And never ever let anyone tell you you can't do it!

I became a Medical Assistant at 21 and just started my LPN program at 33 1/2 with hopes to do my LPN to RN around 37
