Hi my fellow Nursing Students

I want to know how old were you when you started Nursing school. RN's and LPN's are welcome to answer.

I'm in my early 30's, married with three babies, ages five and under. I'm a little nervous and worried that I may have started a little late at following my dream to become a nurse.

Thanks everyone:D

I started when I was 20 and will graduate this May at 22, I do not have any children or anything like that but I really respect the women who are still following their dream at that age! I love going to school/studying with people in the program older than myself because they are much more serious about their education. You have a lot more life experiences than us doing it right out of high school and I think it brings a lot :) good luck!

Specializes in HIV.

I was 20 when I began my ADN nursing program. I started the RN to BSN when I was 22. I'm 23 now and about to be done with it, thankfully.

I started at 32 with 4 kids and a husband. I will be 34 when I graduated in May planning for a pinning and my oldest junior prom. You are exactly where you are suppose to be when you get there.

Don't worry you will be great:yes:

I was 27 and finished at 28. It was a 1 year transitional program. Trying to finish this RN-BSN now that I started a month ago. I turn 30 next week. Hope to be finish by 31 and a 1/2 :)

I was 54 it took me three years going full time no summers off. I waited until the last child was gone my husband worked in Alaska for the BLM so I could pay for school. I graduated in 2005 with my ADN and I work full time in a small critical access hospital in Washington state. I am the acute care, ED, out patient, and assist with long term care. I love what I do and hope to be able to do it for a long time.

Specializes in Geriatrics, Dialysis.

I am yet another "nursing as a second career" person. I started school at 32 and have been an RN now for 15 years. One of my classmates was 52 when we started, as far as I know she is still working as a nurse.

22, turned 23 after 1st semester, and I am now 24. I should finish my program this December and start my BSN next fall. Then I should finish when I am 26 to 27.

Specializes in ICU, Radiology,Infectious Disease,Forensic Nursing.

Starting at 23, while married with a 1 year old!

I start my ADN on the 28th, my birthday, and I will be 38. I am married, have two children 9 and 5. I started some of my readings for the first day of lecture and I already feel overwhelmed. But we want this, why else would have chose to go back after so many years?! Trust me life was kind of normal with a 9-5 job...but something has been pulling me toward this career for many years...I just finally decided to take the leap!

I'm 20 and I start September 5. I will finish May 2015 with my ADN at the age of 21, 2 months before my 22nd birthday.

started in 2011 when I was 37 and graduated this past May at 39 - husband and 7 year old twins (they were 5 and on their way to K when I started)...

Specializes in Pedi.

Started at 18, directly out of high school. I graduated at 23 because I had to take a medical LOA and was probably the oldest one in my class. It was college/a traditional BSN program where pretty much everyone entered right out of high school.
