How much tuition did financial aid cover??

Well I am only at a 2 year college now but my Pell Grant alone (that is not even counting my student loan) covered *all my tuition, books, etc and I still got a $500 check left over to put it in the bank. Then my student loan check was for $1800.00 for the semester.

I think even at more expensive private colleges they offer more scholarships to help out since most people can't afford it on their own. Good luck!

I didn't get anything from the government. Surprise surprise!! Although, I did get a 1/2 paid academic scholarship, and I am trying to get a leadership thing from the school that will cover the other half. (These two cover all four years) Good luck everybody and push your finanical aid office to give you more. They have, but you have to push for it!

I got $1000 from my Pell Grant and that took care of tuition plus $400 worth of books. I only took one 7-credit class, though.

I am currently getting the Hope scholarship but I was wondering if there is anything out there to help with the cost of life while you are in school full-time???

Have you looked into Stafford Loans? Ask your Financial Aid office. I am also getting Hope but since I start clinicals this fall I also went for the Stafford to help cover my cutting back on my work hours. Good Luck!

Straba,

What's up girl? I do not get financial aid for school here, however, I have been begging the people from the caribbean associations to sp[onsor me. As you know as an international Student i have to be in school full-time no matter what happens. Straba, are you from Jamaica? I have never met a person from the Jamaican soil here.

Financial Aid covered all of my LPN except I did have to get an $800 loan for summer. I woudn't have had to get that, if I hadn't have spent my refund from other semesters.

I am working on pre-reqs for RN now, and financial aid continues to pay for my schooling.

I'm very fortunate...If it wasn't for Financial Aid, I wouldn't be a nurse today. :)

Wow I didnt get any financial aid. Iworked my way through school doing 60 hours a week, The only aid I got was my wife helping keep me together.

Yow! Yes , I am Jamaican (Kingstonian through an through!!). It's nice to see JA representing here!! You're the first Jamaican I've met on the board. How long have you been in the U.S.? Good luck with the Carribean Associations, as i've heard it can be tough to get anything from them, not impossible, but tough. I have a friend that was a CASS student, and was sent to Oregon (col like a r**s ya know) for her schooling ,but not for nursing though. Thankfully I was able to apply for financial aid (just became a perm. resident) but my school is expensive, and I don't know if it will be covered. We'll see.
