I sorry that I reply U so so late. me lost my allnurses password and took me some time to get back online again.

In my country, Singapore(U know where it is?), there is a shortage of nurses, the polytechnic and Ministry of Health launched the two-year accelerated diploma programme (Healthcare) - Nursing in April 2003(just before SARS happened).

Mid-career change locals are like my age and older who have their degrees/diplomas in some other fields and a minimum of two years working experience without prior healthcare knowledge and skills and want to be a registered nurse can attend the accelerated diploma programme and embark on their professional nursing careers.

Most Singapore registered nurses have a least a diploma in Nursing, but more and more are gaining their advanced diplomas, degrees and masters

My nursing class is the normal diploma programme, it is three years and accepts students after they have obtained their Cambridge O Levels results, so my classmates are relatively younger. For them, nursing is their first career.
