I know this is just a technicality Walmart_ADN, but nobody is an RN just because they graduate. We're not RNs until we sit for and pass boards.:)

ahh yes i see you caught the same technicality i did...probably at the same time too... i was hoping i could change it before anyone else saw my little typo!

My name is Mandy and I am 24 years old. I just started the ADN program last week. This is my 3rd career/school change since I graduated highschool. I think I better actually graduate this time, or my husband is going to divorce me. (just kidding) But I do have a lot riding on this and I hope that I am successful. I'm having a lot of self-doubt right about now and I'm nervous and scared about all this new stuff. I have no medical background, where as the majority (if not all) of my classmates do. Some days I wonder if I've made the right decision. I guess we'll see. Our first test is in 6 days...and our first check-off is two days after that....talk about some stress. All I can say is that I am sooo glad I don't have any kids and that I don't have to work, because I'd never be able to do this. I am in total awe of those nursing students who keep up with kids and a job as well as school.

Hello all. I am 24 and like nurse2b, I am married with two kitties.....they are the only kids I want! :) I am in an ADN program starting my second semester tomorrow (back to the books, ugh) I really don't know what area I want to work in but I am starting a Nurse Extern program in May and it will allow me to "try out" many different areas to gain experience and hopefully decide which area I want to work in. Good luck this semester everyone!!! :)

I am 23 and finishing up pre-req's/support classes for the ADN. Hope to start in Fall 2002. I will be 25 when I graduate. I am married (hubby is a pre-nursing student too!) with one step-son and 3 cats. I work as a Unit Tech in a CT ICU and I feel like I am learning so much. At least I get to see some cool stuff - it kinda makes up for having to carry urine around in a big bucket!

Well, I guess I may as well share with the class, I am 18, 19 later this year, will be 21 when I hopefully qualify. I am in the first year of a BSc course in nursing, and if I pass everything first time (quick look pig flying ) I only have 8 semesters to go!!!

I was a bit hesitent to reply to this thread, because I seem to get placed in a certain box when people know my age. It happens on my course a lot, there is a week between me and the youngest girl on my course, :o  Not that I think you guys will, I am just always cautious about people knowing my age.

i know how you feel, i was 17 years old when i started nursing school, i couldn't legally drive after 9 pm!!!! When i take my boards, (And hopefully pass them!) I will be 19 years old, not even old enough to drink legally, but as some one else posted, i can give narcotics to people.

i also know how you feel about being placed into boxes by other people, i'm always the one people say "ooo, the baby of the group" "well, your young, you can handle it" "aww honey we will be here to help you" ARGHHH!!! I need as much help as everyone else, me being 35 years younger then them does not constitute me needing special treatment! I can handle it! I know they mean well, and I do appreciate it, it just gets old sometimes, you know? anyway, if you want to talk more email me or instant messege, [email protected] or LeAnn7481 on AOL instant messanger:rolleyes:
