How Does This Happen?

So......I took my last mother-baby test and I failed it. In fact, according to the instructor, the majority of the class failed it. Unfortunately, I failed the class. Yes, I had some mild anxiety but managed to keep it in check. I wasn't 90% comfortable with all the material. It was supposed to be over P.P.complications, the neonate, care of the neonate, high risk neonate, neonates nutrition, female breastfeeding disorders, and female related cancers. It turned out to be strictly neonate related and cancer. No DIC, ITP, vonWillebrand, hypovolemic shock, or P.P. hemorrhage. I was disappointed to say the least. I was comfortable and ready; the neonate and cancer....not so much but, I would be able to work my way through it.

How in the world can I pass the hesi specialty exam with an 85.93% but I can't pass a class test that comes from a variety of test banks with a grade higher than a 72. My grades were 64, 72, 72, and 68.

In fact, according to the instructor, the majority of the class failed it.

This sounds like an instructor issue more than a student issue. I have instructors throw out questions that the majority of the students miss because they feel that is 3/4 of the class can't answer it then they obviously did something wrong and its reviewed again.

This happened when we took our first test. She said during that time "everybody always has trouble with the first test." I know and do, take responsibility for my part in the situation for not being 100% comfortable with all the material covered. However, I do feel it says something when everyone has done poorly. There are some that did poorly but still passed the class. I wish I was one of them. Now, graduation is 1yr away as of today, instead of 6 months. I dropped my med surg class which set me back to September; today's failure made it 1yr. I'm frustrated and just about over it all. I just want my life back. This isn't how things were supposed to be.
